simpleplan2 -> RE: Nicks (1/11/2009 3:17:16 AM)

I've always liked your nick.  I wonder why others (well, some do, but not many) don't take the same approach.

tsatske -> RE: Nicks (1/11/2009 3:21:09 AM)

I give people the benifit of the doubt when it comes to nicks. When I can see something positive, when i think it tells me something about them, i use it as an entry to write them and hopefully start a conversation. Sometimes I'm wrong. (Hairmana might write back and say, 'crazy bitch, why do you assume i have a hair fetish?)
When people have an extreme or crazy nick, i tend to assume they got frustrated trying to get the site to accept a nick and everything they tried was taken. (I'm ALWAYS wrong. Always turns out, they are, indeed, crazy - but hope springs eternal, and I keep trying...)

Where does Irish come in?

'Lass' is a Northern English term - particularly common in the North East. Lassie is the Jock equivalent. I have never heard an Irishman use the term 'lass', and seeing as we have half of Ireland living over here and every second name is of Irish descent in the city in which I live, I'd estimate I would have heard it by now.

simpleplan2 -> RE: Nicks (1/11/2009 3:25:10 AM)

LOL!  Good for you, giving them the benefit of the doubt.  Guess I'm a "glass is half empty" kinda girl.  I assume they are crazy to begin with...saves a lot of time.

odd0bob0tie0up -> RE: Nicks (1/11/2009 3:25:16 AM)

odd bob tie up. names rob, odd - i find it odd and weird the things i think about, tie up - the core of what i wish to practice, simple play on words, nothing overly creative but i've seen no copies.

Northern rather than English because I'm a Northerner first and an Englishman second.

Gent because I'm full of shit.

Impressive eh.

I am on the verge of changing my name, however.....to NorthernKing......because it will add meaning to my life. Anyone caught not affording me my full title, will be ignored.

simpleplan2 -> RE: Nicks (1/11/2009 3:32:17 AM)

What's a Northerner?  Oh yeah...let me know how the "King" stuff works out for you...LOL!

JustDarkness -> RE: Nicks (1/11/2009 3:33:51 AM)

about lass......I only could find this

MadAxeman -> RE: Nicks (1/11/2009 3:37:27 AM)

Northerners are what we in the South call 'grims'
Whippet sniffing, chipstuffing, clogdancing moaners.
It's a bleak realm to reign over.

BKSir -> RE: Nicks (1/11/2009 3:41:51 AM)

BK came from a nickname I picked up many moons ago while playing football (american football, not soccer), and rugby, of Big Cat, due to my build, speed, agility (god I miss THOSE days >.<), and long hair, always pulled back into a fastidious tail.  It morphed a little over time, into BiggKatt, or just BK for short.  Had that nickname for...  uh... damn, now I feel old.  I've had that nickname for about 17 years now.

Well, brace yourself for this utterly irrelevant piece of information, we, we being those hailing from Northern England, have cultivated an identity that is separate from the South; some of which is steeped in fact: anti-monarchy tradition, industrial, working class etc. Our national sport has its roots in the North and the most successful teams are Northern; the North produces a far greater number of bands, too. Basically, English popular culture is Northern. That lot down South are quite happy to distance themselves from us, as seen by the endearing terms they reserve for us, such as 'Northern Monkeys' due to our 'savage' nature (basically, we're the finest minds of the 14th century). Over here, we tend to be utterly indifferent to foreign nations and prefer to reserve our disdain for one another: Manchester hates Liverpool and vice versa, Sunderland hates Newcastle, Leeds hates Manchester etc......and the list is pretty much endless.

I'll keep you posted with the transition from gentleman to king.

Lad and lass are old Norwegian. In the North East, we still use terms that are derived from the Norwegian settlers. For example: gannin yerm = going home, beck = stream, lad and lass etc.

MadAxeman -> RE: Nicks (1/11/2009 4:13:35 AM)

And they talk foony.
Basically, Hadrian's Wall should have been on casters.

JustDarkness -> RE: Nicks (1/11/2009 4:14:07 AM)

Oxford dictionay agrees with you..and Sweden.
Guess the Vikings could understand eachother :P

pixidustpet -> RE: Nicks (1/11/2009 5:12:19 AM)

my first name on here was adoracat, which was what fallcon called me, and since i was here on his last orders (and very reluctantly, i might add) i used it.

pixidustpet because Daddy calls me pixiedust.

kitten cause i've been that forever, since a former lover watched me stretch in the am back in my flexible days...

angelikaJ -> RE: Nicks (1/11/2009 8:44:26 AM)

the j is my first initial and Angelika (with a hard G) was the name my German teacher picked for me.
We were supposed to pick our own but she chose this one over my suggestion....and it was better!

SilverMark -> RE: Nicks (1/11/2009 9:14:37 AM)

YourhandMyAss -> RE: Nicks (1/11/2009 4:43:30 PM)

I felt that it made it clear that my number one fav kinky activity was spanking, it also makes it quite clear what I want, your hand  meeting my ass.

Now sure, you know it could be misconstrued as being into say anal fisting, or other forms of ass place, however most guess right on and guess spankings.

Yes, I do think about the nick names I use. Others have been more original like one time I was Equestrianne, Anne being my middle name, and I used to ride horses.  Another name was Enternetcrazie, because I am crazy about being on the net and surfing.

One was IamSiamese, and it was because my chosen  cat species to play is the Siamese kitty. Course I picked that kitty based on charastics, before I knew how silly they looked with such huge ears.

Along the same lines my couples non fetish name on  here is FelinePersuasion.

I'm sure this has been done to death, but I wonder how many people stop and really think about the name they choose.  When I see "extreme" or "unforgiving" or even the popular "Dr. Pain", there's NO WAY I'm going to contact him, but I know that's just me and I am sure that some will find that quite appealing.

Take my nick, for example...I happened to be listening to Simple Plan on the radio when I created it.  I could just as easily have named myself Beyonce or Usher [image]http://www.collarchat.com/micons/m16.gif[/image]

Since I find the origin of words and phrases fascinating...what's the story behind your nick?

lighthearted -> RE: Nicks (1/11/2009 5:00:50 PM)

try and get a straight answer out of me and you'll know why my nick is appropriate [:D]
