Your peeve is duly noted and without getting into a watersports contest with you..here are some of my thoughts.   There are some movies on these sites that have been actually filmed in the theater, while other films featured are official screening films (which someone paid for the right to have)..and yet again there are movies that after having been released on DVD are posted online for others to view (again are paid for by someone).  Here's something else to consider..when you or anyone borrows a  DVD movie, videogame, CD, book, etc from a friend..its stealing as you're not the one who bought the right to use it.  Have a nice day!

I'm assuming by official screening films you're referring to Academy screeners. Those aren't paid for, no one has the right to put leak them online. That's done by a few immature academy members. And borrowing from a friend isn't stealing, because they bought the rights to the disc. They own the dvd, but they don't own the contents of the dvd. They're free to lend it to whoever they want, but not to make another copy. That's how it works from both a moral and legal standpoint. If you're too cheap to go see a movie, deal with not seeing the movie. There are plenty of other ways to entertain yourself.

We aren't doing anything to scale back. We are not big spenders anyway, and we live frugally day to day normally, So there really isn't to much to "scale back from"

The only things we're doing is we're not eating out very much any more, and it's not about scaling back, but it's about caring about my health since eating out  at our fav place often is extreamly horrible for your health.

Actually eating out can be great as long as you make good choices. Example; salads with oil and vinegar (only add more vinegar, less oil), steamed vegetables, whole grain pastas with vegetables and olive oil, etc. But eating at home is better from a price perspective.

Really, the only thing I have done to scale back is to not go shopping as much as I would like (unless its with giftcards I was given), not go drink Starbucks with the girls (unless with giftcards), and buy stuff in bulk, as it lasts AGES!

<-- just got a new (to me) suv and a house. But i only drive one car a weeek and im a big fan of thrift stores for the ums, they just tear it up and wreck it in a minute anyway. I also started shopping at a discount grocery store. 30% of the meat that they say is about to go over, its good for the freezer. i also garden a bit

My house and cars are paid for.  I limit my driving.  I have mainly CF bulbs in all my sockets in the house and I hang laundry instead of using a dryer.  I don't have any credit cards, I have a cell phone but no land line and thinking about dropping my basic cable.  I have a garden and learned how to can this year and also tend to hit up the local farmer's markets if I am already out and about.  I am a member of the local freecycle group and visit Craig's List when I am looking for something before hitting the stores.

BbwCanaDomme, yes, IT CAN be healthy, but I don't go out to eat healthy,I mean I do make smarter than average choices, such as no soda with my meal, but salads and crap aint on my radar When I go out. I go out to eat hearty and eat big, and to eat stuff I wouldn't normally get at home cause it was to much effort to fix.

And if I do get a salad, it's  usually one of those really sweet ones, MAndrine orange salads, I believe. Sugar peas and rice and chunks of, got Chunks of crispy chicken, and honey glaze on it or something and if it's a regular salad I am going to put ranch on it.

.

One of my fav places to eat is Jack in the box, 2 eggstreme sausage sandwhiches, and a large ice tea, with two packets of sweet and low.

There's 4 or 5 places I like to eat at the best, and I always get the same thing, that;s why we go there, I know we like the food.

If I go to On the border for instance, I will have a plate of beef and cheese impanada's with ranch the rice dish and beans, and ice tea.

If I go to Mary's Where Daddy works, it'll be chicken parmasian, with fettichini noodles and cream sause,   a house salad, a basket  of bread sticks, sometimes it's pesto sticks and 5 or 6 cups of ice tea.

Woodies, I get the coconut fried shrimp prawns in sweet marmalaid dipping sauce.

I'm rather thrifty, and Natalie is really fruggle(sp).

We do revisit the budgets regularly, increasing our cash reserves is important.

We haven't trimmed activities, but we were never too extravagant anyway. Slaves for gardening, housekeeping and recreational activities really saves tons of loot. I wanted to treat Natalie with a new vehicle and have decided to wait,.......................... or maybe a rickshaw(sp) might be neat (heh, far eartern idea of pony girls).

I have actually decided on a proactive perspective to this "crisis", I selected three big name bottom dollar stocks, researched their potential value by need, product demand, consumer opinion and loyalty as well as other factors (based on several factors) and have been buying up shares.

I have also been expanding my companies work load, using the motvational factor that my employees want more work in fear of not having work in the future. I may be working them harder due to the increased workload, but if they start wearing down I either hire more operators or keep the best work and farm out the remaining work.

I've also noticed that rental properties are rather cheaply acquired. LLC's tend to protect my solid ventures against the risks I may choose to invest in, while doing my part for America's future .

For some reason I could never eat at a place called "Jack in the Box".

I'm doing the zonal heating thing.
It's warmish where I am, but the other end of the house is pretty cold.
I'm generally living in half the house now, it seems.

Other than that, I've always been pretty thrifty.
When I splurge, it's on used stuff usually.
Sometimes you can get new used stuff; I bought a 500gig external drive and a Canon printer that were both new in the box recently.
They were extras that were thrown in when people bought new computers, or something like that.
I bought a car and a computer off of Craigslist recently, also, and I'm happy with them.

Craigslist kicks ass ~ as long as you know what you're looking for and have a fairly discerning eye...and a little luck.

Please give me some suggestions as to what you are doing...

Well, I've started by scaling back the household staff.  The upstairs maid was furloughed and the downstairs maids have had to pick up the slack.

I've also had to let my chauffeur go and my gardener fills in.

I haven't had the yacht out in months and my G-V hasn't taken to the air since my last European holiday over Christmas.

It's all so troublesome that I must suffer this hardship because of all the riff-raff that destroyed our economy by fooling bankers into giving them loans.

And what is supposedly put into it to get you to come back? I've no doubt it has lots of salt and stuff, most fast foods do.

I'm writing the IRS a letter, a very heartfelt one, trying to explain that while I've enjoyed employing their services this far, we feel that its best for everyone involved if we no longer retain them at this time.  Times are tight, and I'm going to start shoveling my money directly to my banks and other corporations of my own choosing, so that at least those companies can get their bailouts.  Its kind of like cutting out the middle man, or offshoring.  Hmmm, offshoring the IRS, I think we might be onto something here.....no, that's right, the Federal Reserve is already a small group of private overseas companies.  How silly of me.

i learned to live frugally after my divorce.  we switched to more energy efficient light bulbs, and planned errands for a one day trip and did as much as we could.  we've added better insulation, purchased more energy efficient appliances, learned to use more natural cleaners we can make from household products, purchased most of our groceries in bulk, found cheaper suppliers for products we can't buy in bulk and so on.  we do the best we can with what we have, and if it's not good enough, we don't buy it.  we're looking for more ways to cut back, but have found we can't scrimp on cable, that's our main source of entertainment, especially with me spending so much time at home now.

Well, let's see.  I bought a car, trying to keep the credit cards around 1/3 of the max and paying them well above minimum, planning a trip to Vegas in the spring... mortgage payments right on time.  The living room furniture is nearly finished, and we'll be getting a much better bed on that account.

I'm seeing all these posts about pinching every penny, and while I can certainly respect those who need to do that, it shouldn't become a fashion statement.  That makes you part of the problem.  It isn't government that is going to take the hitch out of our economic get-a-long, it's people keeping the money moving around.

I would penny pinch even when I didn't have to. It's important to me that I and my partner are not blowing money on needless stupid shit we can and have been doing with out.

Now every once in a while a big splurge would be ok, But Everything else would have to be in order financially first, and that means rent payed bills payed, plenty of money in the bank, we're not close to being in overdraft,* which he is most months and that's with out wasting money* ect ect.

It's not a fashion statement, being frugal is a way of life.

Once I am out of debt, I have grand hopes  for my money* and his* in the future, and if we don't start saving now, Those hopes and dreams will not be possible when we want them to be possible.. One of my biggest dreams outside of owning a home we payed off immediately, would be to have enough money on hand at all times to travel to any given destination, no matter where, or the cost* with in reason* I want to go to the carribeans, to kink in the carribian in the next two or three years, before something happens to the event and maybe it goes away. That's going to be about 4 thousand dollars each,  not including air fare, and our pass port costs.

If I wasn't in debt and hadn't of wasted all the money I squandered over the years, I'd be well on my way to being rich, well rich for a person of my age. I could easily of had  12 thousand or more 5 times over in my savings.

One of those dreams and hopes is to have enough money to buy a house, out right, or almost outright by almost out right I mean it'll take a year or two to pay it off. No mortgage, and none of this paying for it for 30 years and you're dead and gone before it's ever yours free and clear.

He's 37, Typically I feel men at that age Men should be well on his way to having a decent nest egg, not scraping by hand to mouth half broke every month because their job doesn't pay enough, or they're constantly spending money that doesn't need to be spent.

To make Meeting our Dreams a reality ,,  means to me living life with in our means, and sometimes way below the means. There are certain things we can do w/ith out, we will not die with out show time and cinamax, and all the latest and "greatest" Techno gadgets and toys.
