i just wanted to add in direct response to the OP that one needn't be rude to get one's preferences or wishes heard or to get respect. if one stoops to the level of being rude to get respect, does one truly get respect in kind? who knows what gets back to them. i actually see quite a bit of integrity around. i know many folks who use please and thank you as a rule, rather than as an exception. i've only once hear the "N" word in the last few years other than on here in another thread and this one, and i grew up in the deep south. it wasn't all that common amongst most people there even a while back. manners were to the extreme there almost. a gentler way, so to speak. that's not to say there were not problems, as one will find at any time anywhere. some people have little ones today who don't steal, say mean things to people, and use good manners. i think it's a matter of seeing the big picture over the trees sometimes. i do hope things get better for you and you see the good in people still out there and in here. i wish you well.
