hi all,

just a quick question - is anyone here a member of alt.com or adult friendfinder - is the gold or silver membership worth it?

good morn SuperiorMaster,

miti was a member of alt.com...and seeing it as it was, i would think a Male searching would be at a disadvantage by not being able to completely view profiles....

I had a silver membership and truly found it wasn't any advantage in increasing my chances of finding someone suitable. I still feel that these online sites are fine and some people do connect through them, but to have a better chance, one should attend their local real time events on a regular basis. Becoming actively involved locally means people within a reasonable distance of you get to know you by observation and experience. Trust is built, friendships blossom and those have a better chance of blooming into a relationship.

Most people I talk to don't bother with ALT any more, they have migrated over to BCom or Collarme. BCom chat is superior to Collarme chat in my opinion.

Good Morning Superior Master,

back in the day a lady didn't need money to go out and drink and dance...
alt/aff is the same sort of philososphy,of the times....
if your a man you pay for an add in order to get the best benefits of the site...ladies don't need too,lol.imo..
the men are at least 10/1 on there. the more times one gets viewed the more they can view and write back....so it is the law of average/supply and demand, so to speak....in regards to paying or not

I had a silver membership for a while because I wanted to be able to view the profiles. The main discovery I made was that a huge percentage of their "members" hadn't logged on to alt in a long time so there was a false perception of how many people one could actually contact. For example, they claim a quarter million members in Florida, but a search set for south east Florida came up with only a few dozen who had been on line in the past month.

This also shows up in the message areas where most of the notestreams haven't had any new messages posted in weeks or months. The online chat is more active than on CollarMe, but as with most chat systems, it's populated by people who I find hard to "reach." For example, in what they call "The Extreme Room," I tried several times to bring up needle play and each time either got "eeeewww" responses or the room quickly emptied. The same sort of thing happened in what they call "The Pain Only Room."

I didn't bother to renew.

I had a three month silver membership to alt.com. I received significantly more mail initially than I do/did here initially, but the vast majority were people in different states or even countries. I received more non-bdsm couple-seeks-third type emails. I did meet one interesting local contact that I may not have otherwise.

I did not enjoy their chat room and much prefer these forums to alt.com. I have been very impressed with the moderation on these forums, supporting keeping things relatively on topic and flame-controlled. I have been censored a time or two, but I can accept that for the overall atmosphere provided here.

I think it just depends on what your goals are. There is potential to meet someone via alt.com, so if you are looking to make as many contacts as possible hoping one will work out, there may be value.

I did not renew when my three month period was up.

I couldn't agree more. Both those site were like browsing in a bowl of cereal... what wasn't fruits and nuts were flakes.
By the way, it really takes a lot of nads to plug another website on the message boards... even if the site mentioned sucks, lol

Can you send email when you don't have a gold/silver membership or its it just a passive thing, waiting for others to contact you?

Thanks,

as far as i can remember....one cannot even view profiles, unless a paid member.

Or, if someone contacts you and sends their profile, for your viewing.

there was a limit as to how many emails one could send in a days time, as well. i think it was three or five?

alt.com just is not worth the money one has to pay to belong and enjoy their services.

that is my opinion alone, and Your mileage may vary with use and condition

I had a silver membership at alt for 3 months...or maybe 6;it was quite awhile ago, so I'm not sure. Anyway, it did have it's benefits: viewing full profiles, email privileges, etc., and I did meet some women there, but it was not worth renewing. I don't even remember if I bothered to delete my profile when I stopped going there. I remember the chatrooms there were about the same as chatrooms everywhere else.

I'm on the site, and am able to view profiles most of the time. I was told, by another friend, that the "views" may be related to popularity of your own profile. The more views your profile produces, the more profiles you're able to view, although I don't know if this is true. Could be from what I've experienced though. I have also been told, by some male subs, that their situation was different, so perhaps women have a better nonpaying view.

I've not made contacts, but have had many. Winks only from none paying members, and to me, a wink is useless unless you have to get something out of your eye.

I've had the limit of two e-mails, for the day, when responding to those that have contacted me. I have always been able to respond to those that contacted me (within the two emails a day limit).

My POV...why go there, when you can enjoy this site? I have found the contacts on here to, by average, of a higher quality type response. While I'm seeking a relationship, and not only play, I've found the majority of contacts there to be for casual sex, and from married men. I am still listed though...just in case a decent one comes through.

Paid for membership once, wouldn't ever give them another dime.
I think that answers your question.

Nope no point at all. The mass there are just looking for quick sex and are all men. And alt has been rumoredto make fake profiles just to attract new members and AFF is just all men looking for sex.

I wouldn't waste money paying for any sites like them

Men cannot but women can and then it's limited to alts whims. They haver popularity points now you have to have so many people a month look at your profile and then*maybe* you can look at a profile.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way...sheesh. I've met countless people on alt but when it comes to stepping away from the computer good luck finding many willing to take that step.

As far as paying for membership, we did a year or so ago as a couple's profile but really didn't find anything. With my profile now I can view 50 (maybe more) profiles a day and I can send 10 e-mails a day. It's true about the law of supply and demand and it is based on the views you get, I believe alt calls it something like "popular member privileges."

I must say all the people I've met in real life have all been through collar me or actually going out in real time to community events and parties; and none of the sites that I've seen compare to the boards here.

We have a paid membership, however, when it is up, we will not bother doing it again. As stated before, it seems that those two pay sites are riddled with those who either never bother logging on, do not know how to tell the truth, are cheating on a spouse (just wanting a quick lay), etc. The conversations here have been much more interesting and lively.

Only if you want to actually be able to USE the site to view profiles and send emails. I've had a free membership in there for about 7 years now and have received no interest from anyone other than married creeps looking for a little wank on the side.

Even the vanilla personal ad sites are charging to email anyone. They let you "wink" to show interest, but if the person you winked at isn't a paying member, then all they can do is wink back. Match.com has even gone as far as to not let you even retrieve an email sent to you unless you pay.

I haven't belonged to any ad site, vanilla or kinky where I found it worthwhile to pay money to use it.
