BlackPhx -> Two of the Great Actors died this week (1/14/2009 1:36:03 PM)

Ricardo Montalban has passed at age 88. He has moved on to that Fantasy Island of his dreams...http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090114/ap_en_mo/obit_montalban
Patrick McGoohan also passed on January 13, 2009 http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/5083460.stm

They will both be missed at least by some of us oldsters.

McGoohan rang my chimes a bit more than Montalban...but both will be missed.

I'm not sure I'd call Ricardo Montalban a great actor, but he had such fabulous style!  No one could wear a dinner jacket quite like he could.

I've been in love with Ricardo since I was a child. He always had such a sweet nature it just drew me to him.  He will be missed.

as a Trekkie.....I will always remember Ricardo as Capt. Kirk's infamous archrival Khan....may there be peace on Seti Alpha 5

I attended a Star Trek Convention in which Mr. Montalban was a guest.  He was the charming Latin Gentle that he has always been.  Even if he was a Villian everyone there loved him.

Mr. Goohan came to the US in the series "Secret Agent", this also lanched the career of Johnny Rivers who sang the title song.  In England where the show was made it was called "Danger Man", the videos are available.  Mr. Goohan went on to create and star in one of for it's time a TV series that was both bizzar and enjoyable, "The Prisoner"  this also was one of the first mini-series, 16 shows.   Mr. McGoohan last appearance was as King Edward 1 (Longshanks) in Mel Gibson "Braveheart".

Both Men will be saddly missed.

Ricardo was also Mr. Rourke on the long running series, "Fantasy Island", was Armondo the circus owner in "Escape From..." and "Conquest of..." the Apes films. And recently, he was the grandfather of the "Spy Kids" in those films. I believe he was also doing voice work for the "Kim Possible" cartoon series for Disney? He kept working almost right up until the end. Good for him! (Nothing worse than being laid up, and left with nothing but looking back on your career memories...)

Mr. McGoohan was also know for working for Disney. He played Dr. Syn, Alias the Scarecrow for several episodes of the "Disneyland" series. (Which are apparently being remade by the same team that was responsible for the "Pirates" films) Genre fans will also remember him as the scientist who accidentally created "The Scanners" in the David Cronenberg film of the same name. Apparently, he too was very active until almost right up until the end.

(Man, I hope I'm as lucky as these two guys!)

I always wanted there to be a real Fantasy Island.  Can you imagine the debauchery?[sm=mop.gif]  I have.

When was this?

Can you expound upon his appearance in more detail?

Thanks...

I love his rich voice and his refined, cultured way of speaking.

When I was a kid I loved McGoohan in The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh!
