Vendaval -> Ex-BART officer arrested for shooting (1/15/2009 12:22:41 PM)

The officer wanted from last week's shooting in Oakland is now in custody.  I am hoping that public protests will not turn into riots again and that the arraignment and trail can proceed quickly.

"Lawyer: Ex-BART officer went to Nevada after death threats"

Wed January 14, 2009

"(CNN) -- The former transit police officer accused of shooting an unarmed man at a California train station went to Nevada with his family "to clear his mind" after receiving death threats, his lawyer said Wednesday.

The lawyer's comments came after Johannes Mehserle was arrested on a fugitive warrant in Nevada.

Leads led investigators to Johannes Mehserle, 27, in Zephyr Cove, Nevada, on Tuesday, authorities said. He was contacted through his attorney and then surrendered."

My feelings is we can expect the worst and hope for the best.

Yes, plan for the worst case scenario and try for the one with the least amount of strife and violence.

Im 45 minutes from oakland and its like a diferent universe there i swear.
But Ill tell you,
They riot after the shooting.

They riot cuz of no action by BART.

They riot cuz of action by BART.

They riot when the officer is NOT arrested.

They riot when the officer IS arrested.

And i can pretty much guarantee thet when this (now ex) officer is aquited,
there will be more rioting.

I once heard a rumor there was an underground movement to seperate NorCal and SoCal (sigh, what a dream),
I'd make the border at the south end of Sonoma County, let em keep Marin hehe.

Some things have changed in America...No law enforcement officer can get away with the actions displayed in Oakland. BUT… the time has also pasted for rioting in the streets before justice can be administered.

To me it is just an excuse for thieves to steal…. punks to get drunk…burn a few cars and cause hardship for other law-abiding citizens.

They… meaning the rioters…should be ashamed.

All the noise and mess over this, and you never hear a word about all the *accidental* gang related shootings of children and lil old ladies (innocent bysatanders)
... wanders off shaking her head

XNakisisaX -> RE: Ex-BART officer arrested for shooting (1/15/2009 3:53:10 PM)

*sniff, sniff* I smell a sequel to Bell, Green, King, Dialluo and many, many, many others. This could be another chapter in the saga of cops getting away with murders civilians can only dream of. Whatever happens, he better keep his back against the wall. To quote Bill Duke from Menace II Society, "You know you done fukked up up don't you?" *snickering*

Surely, you aren't suggesting that we obliterate the facts and ignore that a police officer went and murdered a defenseless man?

Sadly----He's even tainted Zephyr Cove. I'm right up the road on the water, in a recently inherited vacation home. I hope my place has not been thrashed or burned down. [:D]

good God naw!  redwoodgirl was not saying that!  but damn, what about the innocent victims?  why isn't there an outcry when innocent children and the elderly are murdered when on their way to school or planting flowers in their front yards!  anytime an innocent person is injured or murdered we should demand justice.

kittinSol -> RE: Ex-BART officer arrested for shooting (1/15/2009 6:27:00 PM)

Are you saying the murdered man wasn't innocent?

bestbabync -> RE: Ex-BART officer arrested for shooting (1/15/2009 6:35:14 PM)

uh..NO!  i am saying anytime any innocent person is harmed we should demand justice.[:)]

kittinSol -> RE: Ex-BART officer arrested for shooting (1/15/2009 7:07:05 PM)

redwoodgirl -> RE: Ex-BART officer arrested for shooting (1/15/2009 7:54:29 PM)

nonononono!
that wasnt my point at all, not even close kitten! calm yourself woman! [;)]
its just baffeling to me that there is so much freakin crime and so many random killings down there that most of you guys out of state never even hear of.
there were to innocents killed just last night in richmond, did you hear about it?
im not freaking out about Oscar at all, he had a rap sheet, was apparently on probation, lalalalalaaaa.
IF it had been anyone besides that officer, 100-1 we never would have heard more than a short passing blurb on the morning news. its sad
that the one time it involves a good guy, He is the one getting slammed.
