LokisBrat -> Nice site for readers... (1/7/2006 7:59:07 AM)

I joined a site called www.paperbackswap.com
Its free and so far, I've gotten lots of books I wanted. I got Exit to Eden yesterday.
You only pay the postage on books you send out.
Enjoy!

Thanks, brat. I checked out the site and it looks pretty good. I'm going to sign up. I have tons of paperbacks that I usually end up taking into work in a big box and give them away for free. I already see one I'm interested in!

It look's like they are charging you too much for postage. Are they sending them media mail? I know I can send a paperback for .62 cents from here. Depending on size of course. They are saying its about 1.62.
Not meaning to be critical but I can purchase a book at Costco for about 3.50. With the hassle of wrapping up the book. Paying too much postage...etc.
Wondering if it would be worth it?

Ummm why does that sight demand to know your home address as part of the info to sign up. I am extreamly wary of places that demand such personal information just so you can sign up to be a member.

Also they say they're free but apon signing up I got this notice

Congratulations, since you are a Charter Member, we are waiving your annual club dues for the first year. We want you to really enjoy the site and tell your friends.

Eventually, we would like to have our members support the expenses of the club and expect dues to cost $10 to $20 per member per year.

Welcome and we hope you like the site!

So far, I've been able to snag books I couldn't go and buy here where I live. And for only the price of the stamps I use to ship out books. I belong to other swap sites and paying shipping is part of it. It is by Media Mail, but the price of stamps can change at the PO counter, I've mailed them for less.

They want your home address because you have books mailed to it, although I'm sure a P.O Box wouldn't be a problem. They haven't charged me anything at all so far, and I've traded over 20 books.

Hope that helps! [:)]
