Why can't I copy text from another website, and copy it here into the text field? Also, my delete key/function doesn't work here either. I have to use the backspace key to delete.

These issues can make posting time-consuming and annoying.

Any easy fixes?

I've copied text in by hilighting the source text, hitting ctrl-c, and using ctrl-v to paste into collarme.

Thanks, but that's what I've been trying.

I'm using the standard browser that my AT&T-Yahoo ISP provides.

that's probably why.....try Firefox or IE.....if it works there...then you know it's the browser.

Or the text you're trying to copy is actually part of an image...

I had Firefox on my previous PC. The reason I didn't like using Firefox here, is because I didn't have font options on the other side (CM). I didn't have emoticon options either, but I didn't care much about that.

I don't believe that's the problem, since the text I couldn't paste here, I was able to paste to MS Word.

Yes, I have IE on my work PC, and have no problems whatsoever here on CM or CC.

I suppose I can download IE on my home PC too, but not sure how it might effect my ISP, logging on, etc. Is there anything I should know, before I do this?

Using a different browser will not effect your ISP settings, it just opens up a different window. If you are connected to one browser, the other will work fine. I switch between firefox, chrome, and IE when one bugs up.

Great, then I'll just download it, and use it for CM and CC... as these are the only sites I have problems with.

Thanks to all.

If you have it saved in word and it's not in a text box, just save and copy paste it from word.  Either that or just provide a link to the text.  The mods don't allow whole articles and you have to have permission to post what your copying if it's not your own don't forget.

Does this happen with all websites you try this with or just some? As far as the delete key goes, do you have the insert key activated?

Yes, that's true about copying whole articles and pasting them here. I don't do that, but it's a hassle not even being able to copy a single paragraph and paste it here along with a link to the original article.

And to use the backspace function to delete a single letter at a time is a hassle too. I've often deleted multiple paragraphs of prior quotes, leaving visible only what I've actually responded to.

I know what you are running into sometimes. I have had it happen on occasion. I have found either a right click on the text area or the ctrl + V works. If neither of them are working then make sure you can paste it into wordpad or something, then try copying from there and pasting here (which I have had to do on a couple of occasions, has to do with the HTML formating of the text on the page you are copying from).

If you can paste it to Word, try pasting to a text file.  This has the advantage of stripping off various bit of formatting.  Very useful when copying text across different type of apps/sites/etc.

It depends on the browser. It mgith not work with Mozilla Firefox or IE, but it should work with Epiphany, Seamonkey or Opera. I use both Seamonkey and Epiphany and I can cut and paste and copy and paste between other applications and CM.

Right clicking in the text field is something I've never tried before. I'll give it a shot.

Pasting something onto MS Word first, I've tried before. Sometimes it'll work, other times it won't.

Hmm... there's more browsers out there than I'd been aware of.

Can multiple browsers burden a somewhat antiquated system?
