lronitulstahp brought it up..but Michelle and Barack carried it off. No One could have told from the lines of the clothing and the flow that what they wore was bullet resistant. To misquote Billy Crystal "They LOOKED MAH'Ve'LOUS". If it put an ounce on her you couldn't tell and he looked like he was just dressed for the weather. My compliments to their Couturiers.

Right now I suspect they just want to kick off their shoes and have something HOT to drink, but it is going to be a very long day.

I think their daughters had it on also, during the speech.
Sad they need it, glad they have it.
They wear it well!!

I still hated the color and the design.

Hate to bust the bubbles, but bullet resistant chic has been around for a few years.  You can order anything from a bullet resistant tux to bullet resistant corsets.

The problem is that most political assassins either use a suicide device or go for a head shot, which means there was not an unsecured window anywhere within ten blocks of the President and first family during the entire day.

While I agree that the necessity of the existence of such clothing is deplorable and says much for the civilization we live in, what I consider to be far worse is the fact that one point of criticism is the color of the clothing.

Aw, c'mon now.  There are those who will fawn over her for what she wears, similar to other First Ladies - it's just as ok for others to not like how she looks - it's part of the press coverage of the first family.

I'd had no idea the clothes were bulletproof, and am kinda relieved to hear that they take these precautions.  And if it explains the outfit she was wearing, all the better.     The little girls looked adorable.

The actual bullet proof stuff is worn under the clothing....we can't blame Kevlar for that canary yellow thing she had going....but for the bumps and bulges.

Too bad you didn't tune in after the Shakira number....though she is absolutely gorgeous enough to pull it off.

I dissed her dress and coat from this morning, so I have to give props to Mrs. Obama's gown ... very pretty, though not ground-breaking.  You do sorta wanna see her messed up a bit!  :)
