Damn, some profiles are so obviously fake, bad quality pictures obviously taken from a magazine or website. Other times, its a little harder to tell... and you could end up spending hours, days, maybe even weeks talking to someone when in the back of your mind you are thinking "this person isn't fake". What if I've been talking to a 40 year old fat guy named Bob. You can ask if they have a webcam or a mic, but that could come across the wrong way, and the excuses - "oh, I don't have the money" or "I'll get one next week" (but they never do) can seem perfectly believable and reasonable.
I really think most of the profiles I wade through are fakes and time wasters. What I mean by time wasters anyway, besides the obvious fakes, is when you're talking to someone, you're getting on very well, agree to meet up... and they don't turn up. Which has happened to me.
I was talking to a girl for a while and she had a number of pictures... but they all seemed too perfect.
Do you think you're good at spotting fakes? What are the warning signals?
