Anyone have a good idea as to the best method to create barbed wire.

I have been thinking for a while now as to the best way to express my two fetishes together in a single outfit. I was thinking leather to conceal below the belt but was thinking a barbed wire shirt. I had thought about going the route of piercing with safety pins or a needle vest where the interior has points that stick into me. Just not sure which is the best way to go.
Any thoughts, since this has to do with apparel?

Maybe I'm not understanding what you're asking but if you want barbed wire, why not just have someone wrap you in barbed wire with perhaps a garment underneath?  Or, are you wanting to create a smaller, finer version that's more for looks than for pain?

Most of what I have been able to find is razor wire and that security wire is rather dangerous and barbed wire is difficult to find and I am wanting to know if anyone has any experience making their own barbed wire and how I would go about making it my self for the purpose of wearing it as part of clothing.

If not, then I will have to go with an alternative using 1/4" nails, thin foam and leather to make a vest. The idea is that anyone brushing up against me would in fact touch my skin with the points that are concealed. Probably use common instead of galvanized since the zinc oxide can cause irritation.

Difficult to find?

Google "barbed wire" and click on the 'Shopping results for barbed wire' link that comes up in the results.  It doesn't get much easier than that.  Alternately, call any farm supply store in your area.

I am in a service relationship which some with their suggestions seem to not acknowledge. The nearest urban community where such a purchase could be made is Cloverdale which would require access to a vehicle. I don't drive and I don't own a credit card, so shopping online is not an option.
Which was why I asked if anyone knew how to fabricate their own barbed wire.
I would much rather make it my self because I do have the skills but it would be nice if knew the materials required and of course how to get the barbs to remain where they are placed along the wire.

All barbed wire is at least two strands.  The strands are twisted together, which hold the barbs in place.

If you take a close look at a piece of barbed wire you'll see that the are 2 main components: 2 lengths of wire and several short lengths.  The long wires are twisted around each other and the short pieces are trapped between the twists.  They are held in place because the wire is very stiff/rigid and twisted fairly tightly.

You can make your own barbed wire by twisting 2 lengths of wire - not too tightly - and then wedging in the short pieces.  Twisting the lengths tighter will hold the barbs in place.

Or you could solder the barbs in place :D

Best of luck!

For heavens sake, don't use galvanized; it's poisonous and you'll get a fuzzy, gross patina on the metal rather quickly.  Not to mention it smells funny, seriously.
If you have a craft store near you, they may have some colorized craft wire that could make for interesting effect.  It's pretty inexpensive too.  Depending on the type of metal you are using, I am guessing you'd want about 20gage.

This is fake, but I've seen it at a museum, and I thought it was real until I touched it.

Sorry, just read the whole thread, didn't realize you couldn't buy online.  Could you get one of those pay as you go credit cards?  They sell them at gas stations, and you can use them for online purchases.

Found a simple method of construction for barbed wire. Though the technique is used to make barb wire for models it does offer a simple method that requires three pieces of wire of equal gauge.
Two are strand together while another is looped like leaves on a vine.

The Gidden method is similar but more complex and uses three strands, but requires starting with a center wire as the stem, then coming from different ends. When a wire over laps an existing barb it passes it by and is used to hold pre-existing barbs in place.

The first method seems to be much easier and there appears to be little waist involved and I am not quite sure as to the lengths that I will need.

12.5 gauge and 15.5 gauge are the two variations that I have found. The first gauge seems to be the best and I think nickle plated wire is a better option than the galvanized option for obvious reasons.

Wonder what a barbed wire corset would look like?

Just one thing to watch out for around the body, is that barbed wire can penetrate like thumbtacks. So if you fall over, or catch a loop, or get suspended from the ceiling, you can drive the barbs into your bones, like nails into wood.
Traditional "mortification" devices typically go around the belly or a thigh as they're well padded
http://www.cilice.co.uk/ (linked as illustration only)

Besides the inconvenience having to tug the wire out of your bones, bones aren't as easy to repair as flesh, and a bone infection can get nasty quickly.
Any infection will be magnified by their proximity to vital organs.

And make sure to take extra care around the spine, as a barb into the muscles, bone, or slipping between the vertebra is going to be un-sexy pain at best .

Put simply, I'd really recommend that the barbs face out.
And if they do face in, that they're over your soft fleshy bits. Plus they're either tight or if loose they go over a rigid vest like a leather corset, so the barbs merely go in and out, and that wire doesn't get dragged down your body causing bloody gouges in your flesh.

I'd recommend a tetanus shot?  (Srsly, easy prevention, no cure)

Other than that, go get a pair of pliers and go to town. Perhaps a pair of heavy duty wire cutters would be prudent to carry around when you wear whatever you end up making.

How did you end up with a big coil of nickel-plated 12.5 gauge wire?? That's some weird-ass material.

Galvanized wire is created using the same method as gold plating.
The same can be done with wire using nickel. Its not something you can purchase at any craft or hardware store but there is place here that sells nickel and stainless steel wire in the gauge that is needed.
Just need to save my pennies.

I certainly plan to reinforce the areas to prevent serious harm to my self. There is however something I learned about the samurai armor. They did wear silk beneath their armor because silk is very useful against the piercing of arrows. It actually wraps around the point of an area. I am thinking that if I make a corset with a couple of layers of silk in the delicate areas I can prevent serious harm, but at the same enjoy the pricking of the barbed points without penetrating through the skin.

Any suggestions as to where a corset pattern can be found? I went to Fabricland and could not find any suitable corsets, only corseted dresses and gowns.

It really defeats the purpose in purchasing a corset just to take it apart considering how much a corset is sold. Anywhere from 80 to 1200$.
I should be able to find a pattern for one without having to purchase one to take apart in order to make my own.
To use barbed wire as part of the making of a corset would mean it would have to be custom considering the amount of risk if its not constructed properly.
I already have ideas for another corset but it will require the expertise of a rigger's assistance in its creation.
Concentrate on a pain slut's corset for now.

Just how do you intend to use the barbed wire?
Typical corsets spread the squash by using a lot of material. If you make a corset shaped wire frame withut spreading the squash, and pull it tight, you risk a cheese cutter effect, plus circulation and nerve damage

If you wrap unstretchy wire around canvas, leather or plastic, which stretches slightly when warmed or wet, then tuning the tighness may be required as you sweat

woohoo, found a real easy way to make a custom pattern for a corset. Since I will be the only one wearing the barb wire corset the method I found would work perfectly.

Found it at the following link http://www.burdastyle.com/howtos/show/767#

Looked into that, but what they sell is galvanized which is just nasty against the skin. Langley/Cloverdale as there is still many farmers that still have livestock.
The barbs not meant for others to become snagged upon but for them to brush into me to give me some delight. *giggles*
