Bad enough the government wants to expand its reach into our lives, now Pelosi defends the inclusion of hundreds of millions of dollars for "condoms" as a part of the stimulus package. That's right folks...she did not say stimulate your package which would be a good idea...

The democrat President and democrat Congress are going to make us all patriots by paying our taxes and using condoms. No question the democrat core will fall in line so I guess only republican babies gonna be born in October, November and December...and beyond....God bless America!

I am sorry, but I am in agreement, violent agreement---My 19YO UM went on BC pills at 16, not because I thought she was going to be loose and free but JUST IN CASE--she has a circle of 20 or so friends from varying socioeconomic backgrounds---out of that 15--FIFTEEN have new or year old babies-half of them now on the state aid or fed aid rolls--this in a time when kids can go to clinics and get BC stuff without parental supervision--- (first): we haven't learned a damn thing, we havent taught our kids a damned thing and (second): its become a means for income--we have proven in some areas that we cannot manage ourselves in some areas and the money is running out for us all.

It doesn't belong in an economic stimulus package. I'm all for the dispensation of condoms, and county health offices have been giving them out for as far as I can remember. When I was a teenager, they'd give you a bag full of Lifestyles condoms when you took the free HIV/AIDS and syphilis test at the county health office. Word to the wise....Lifestyles condoms aren't very good quality. As for this small portion of the stimulus package, it's not that big of a deal compared to the rest of the nonsense that will go in it.

You can still get a bag of free condoms just by going down to the local Planned Parenthood and asking for them. Most of the condoms are donated by companies like Trojan as a tax write off.

Speaking as a former teen mom here, it's not enough to just give your daughter birth control and hope for the best. Birth control is not 100% effective. Nor are condoms (despite what they say). Information doesn't do a whole lot of good either. Being proactive in your child's life--silly things like insisting on meeting the boyfriends face to face and having them over for dinner and chatting about their life, does make a difference.

indeed...alternatively it's also helpful to follow the precautions of a previous landlord's (from me) and simply to follow her advice "to eat an apple when you think about sex" (and therefore instead of having sex at all...) at least there is 100% guarantee of not getting pregnant.
