No complaints Ray, you know the majority of that stuff comes from me - I saw your profile and it brought out a strong reaction in me...

Your to late. I have thousands of those already. You women are not alone in recieving stuff like that. The problem with some people is that they complain about getting that stuff. Me I love to play mind games with them.

I think what makes a good profile is the person who includes their interests in BDSM and in their everyday life. I is a turn off when they write in a manner which comes across as either too demanding or too condescending.

sunshinemiss -> RE: Profile turnoffs and turnons (1/28/2009 8:21:42 AM)

Hi Dark Steven and all you other crazy peoples,
The profiles that are the best give something to hook into - favorite book or movie, fun activities, a story, something that is common to most people but yet specific to one person.  We ALL have a favorite book or movie, but if I tell you that Ender's Game is on my top 5 list and you havne't heard of it, but you like all the others on my list, it could create a conversation.

Perhaps that is the bottom line.  Profiles that leave open the possibility of conversation are the best.

hugs,
sunshine

[8|]  Any chance you're related to Lumus, Ray? He loved to mess with them too. Me, I don't get any cmails from people I don't know from the boards. I get perved occasionally from total strangers but they never cmail me. [sm=dunno.gif]

... adds another one to the list.

Oh and EXPERT

I HATE THE "EXPERTS"!  How can you be an expert at 24 years old?  How can you be an expert at 53 things?  How can you be an expert at 1950's house hold AND female supremacy.  Get out of here.

I am an expert (according to the U.S. court system) in a few things.  But shoot that took a Master's degree and 10 years of experience specializing in a couple of things.

Expert this....

Yeah, that expert thing is such a trap.     M

I get perved from M.M. Now that is a strange person. I can't stalk her because she is to far away.

Dnomyar -> RE: Profile turnoffs and turnons (1/28/2009 10:15:42 AM)

Ok Sun so Im not an expert at Female Supremacy. 52 out of 53 isn't bad.

fluffypet61 -> RE: Profile turnoffs and turnons (1/28/2009 6:28:51 PM)

One of the things i check is the location information and the distance calculation.  i think the distance calculation is from of the zip codes.  Someone who says he is in California but is only 300 miles from West Virginia is lying about something.  That's it ... i don't like profiles that lie!  Age is another thing that turns me off  99yrs old, you have to be kidding!

i also look at the stuff and background of the pictures.  If it is a sloppy room i pass it by.

don't like "discrete" or "i travel a lot"

I actually had to crop a picture due to that. It wasn't until I read a thread here that I realized one picture of my husband had a bunch of dirty dishes in the background. Thank god for these kinds of threads!

I named my youngest monster after Patrick Stewart, does that count?

I have an autographed picture of him on my bathroom wall.

ETA: "Him" refers to Patrick Stewart, not the youngest monster.

LOL! I feel the same way.

One dude was an expert at walking. As Dave Barry would say, I am not making this up.

The distance thing may not be deliberate.  I have seen some profiles that had that, and the profile's author was aware of it and couldn't fix it.  I suspect that there may be a bug in cm that refuses to let someone change their zip when they move.

GreedyTop -> RE: Profile turnoffs and turnons (1/28/2009 7:31:41 PM)

a lot of people use the 99yrs old thing to keep themselves off most folks searches

MissIsis -> RE: Profile turnoffs and turnons (1/28/2009 7:37:50 PM)

My profile for the longest time, had me as being close to people where I used to live, but put the correct area.  It took me forever to finally figure out that we have to go into our account to change it, not just change it on the profile part.

Things I love seeing on a profile, are things that tell  me about the person, outside of bdsm.  I love it when positive attitudes are reflected in a person's writing.  I love when someone actually participates in the message boards.  I want to read about their thoughts.

Turn offs on a profile that make me pass someone by:
-The bitching about all the fakes on here
-Naked or near naked pictures on the profile
-Blank Profiles with nothing but basic information
-No picture at all
-Whining about the people they wrote to that never wrote them back
-Anyone who is young enough to be younger than my youngest offspring
-Profiles that state the person is unworthy or wormlike
-Profiles that state the person is married & they need discretion

MsLadySue -> RE: Profile turnoffs and turnons (1/31/2009 3:59:49 AM)

I don't even look at the profile if all my email says is "hi" or "you look like a Goddess" or they call me "Mistress".

Turnoffs:
    - blank profile
    - self descriptions mentioning whimp, doormat, unworthy, etc.
    - speaking of sexual activity
    - net speak, poor grammar, spelling errors galore
    - listing every bdsm activity as an interest

sirsholly -> RE: Profile turnoffs and turnons (1/31/2009 4:05:06 AM)

any mention of  finances...how well off the Dom is...an instant turn off

CalifChick -> RE: Profile turnoffs and turnons (1/31/2009 9:01:07 AM)

Tired old cliches and negativity make me not only pass them by, but click the "hide' button so I don't have to see them again.

Also, someone who states their preferences, but then says it isn't a requirement.  For instance, if someone says "I prefer women over 6 ft tall, but really, I love all women, so that's not a must-have", then I'm going to pass them by.  That says to me, that he is only going to be REALLY happy with someone very tall, and everyone else will always be second-best. Otherwise, why bring it up at all??
