MsFlutter -> Grandfather's reply to granddaughter (2/1/2009 9:20:08 AM)

There's a REASON I put this in 'Humor' and not some other thread !

Grandpa replies to Granddaughter:

Guess you heard that 68% of "the youth vote" went to Obama.  My granddaughter called this morning to tell me she was one of them. I replied with this e-mail.

The election of Obama comes down to this. Your grandmother and I, your mother, and other productive wage-earning taxpayers will have their taxes increased and that means less income. Less income means we will have to cut back on basic purchases, gifts and handouts.  That includes firing the Hispanic lady who cleans our house twice a month. She just lost her job.  We can't afford her anymore.

What is the economic effect of Obama's election on you personally?  Over the years, your grandmother and I have given you thousands of dollars in food, housing, cash, clothing, gifts, etc., etc.  By your vote, you have chosen another family over ours for help.  So in the future, if you need assistance with your rent, money for gas, tires for your car, someone to bring you lunch, etc., call xxx-xxx-xxxx.  That's the telephone number for the Office of the President of the United States.  I'm sure Mr. Obama will be happy to send a check from his personal or business accounts or leave cash in an envelope taped to his front door.

It's like this.  Those who vote for the president should consider what the impact of an election will be on the nation as a whole and not just be concerned with what they can get for themselves (welfare, etc.).  What Obama voters don't seem to realize is that the government's money comes from taxes collected from taxpaying families.  Raising taxes on productive people means they will have less money to spend on their families.

Congratulations on your choice.  For future reference, you might attempt to add up all you've received from us, your mom, Mike's parents, and others and compare it to what you expect to get over the next four years from Mr. Obama.

To congratulate Mr. Obama and to make sure you're on the list for handouts, write to:

        The White House
    1600 Pennsylvania Ave. NW
     Washington , DC 20500

  Love you kids, but call the number listed above when you need help.

Granddad

[Mod Note:  telephone number removed]

This is comforting, since the man who would have saved us, John McCain, has some time on his hands and, as a patriot, will certainly be willing to offer advice and service in making Mr. Obama's presidency a success.  Oh, unless either a) he's a bitter old man who would rather say "I told you so" than serve his beloved country, or b) he really doesn't have any magic friggin' answers.

yours

eroticservitude -> RE: Grandfather's reply to granddaughter (2/1/2009 9:36:34 AM)

You've got to be kidding me? Talk about a major drag of yesterday's republican propaganda. Lets get this straight: we're supposed to be feel guilty about electing someone because some rich white family can't afford immigrant maids and gifts for their kids in a time of economic crisis? I mean I'm not for the bailout, and I don't have kids; but, I hardly think any action of a president would mean I can no longer "afford ... housing" for my children. And, what kind of grandmother houses a kid that she communicates with in E-mail?

Lastly, this government money doesn't come from taxes. We're creating it out of thin air by making our paid republicans magicians (fed) entertain us. Granted -- some of the effects are the same.

And that, my friends, is the definition of a 'Crotchety Old Man'

Grandad/Palin in 2012!!!

hlen5 -> RE: Grandfather's reply to granddaughter (2/1/2009 10:27:04 AM)

The biggest recievers of handouts have been huge corporations. I haven't been feelin' any of that love, personally. Anyone else here gotten a huge check in the mail lately??

Saratov -> RE: Grandfather's reply to granddaughter (2/1/2009 11:19:40 AM)

Not me.  And I can't afford to give out huge bonuses to anyone in anticipation of a bail-out check.

Termyn8or -> RE: Grandfather's reply to granddaughter (2/1/2009 3:50:27 PM)

This sure as fuck belongs in humor, it doesn't even rate stupidity. If you think we had any fucking choice don't you think we would have taken it.

Consider the Terminator miffed at this time. Your fucking saviour McCain is even fucking worse, he would take just as much fucking money but give it to his buddies. In Dubai.

Yes, this doesn't even rate the "Stupidity" category.

As a little kid, my family couldent afford gifts or going out to dinner. I grew up in the projects in east cleveland. I wore thrift store clothes, we shopped at the save-a-lot, and attended a sub-standard school. I say you rich boys and girls can do with a little struggle. Now YOUR the ones being raped, instead of the working class.

Termyn8or -> RE: Grandfather's reply to granddaughter (2/1/2009 9:08:06 PM)

Not miffed. (and to noone in particular)

Dear Grandaughter, you voted for McCain, you can help our boys who will be in Iraq for 100 years, and the oil companies will be in control and buy, steal sabotage and destroy any alternative energy ideas as they always have.

Social security will be privatized, so Granny and I will be moving in with you. You better look for about ten more jobs because my medication costs $5,100 per month. Of course it is only half of that in Canada, so if you want to make the trip every month you might be able to afford a loaf of bread, which now costs $8.99 because gas is up to $9.00 a gallon. We can't even slap a windfall tax on them because they all moved to Dubai.

By the way, granny wants her wedding ring back, you understand it is just a form of symbolism right ? She is going to sell it to the people advertising on TV to get you a wedding gown, even though your kids are grown and gone.

Oh, and I heard the bank you work for has been bought. Sorry about that, labor is cheaper overseas and money RIGHT FUCKING NOW is all that matters. My apologies to the Grandkids. I forgot their names filling out these forms to get my medication. I'll try to pay more attention in the future or you can help after we move in with you. Oh, and you will have to come up with a hundred a month to pay for the deficit sale of our family home, the house you were born in.

You want more I got plenty. I don't like Obama, and I don't like democrats or just about anything they stand for. But the alternative was just too unacceptable. Grind my fucking nose in it as much as you like, because I got more ALOT more where that came from. Bush is not a republican, the only fucking republican I can think of is Ron Paul, and he is a Christian and IMO Christians should not be allowed to run this country.

Go to Iraq.

Sanguinarian -> RE: Grandfather's reply to granddaughter (2/4/2009 4:42:01 PM)

Not a single person in politics is 'the right choice' or 'the good choice'. You see they all are money grubbing self serving assholes, so you have to pick the one that is less of a money grubbing self serving asshole than the rest. My parents are disabled. What would happen to them and countless others who physically cannot work had the election not gone as it had?

( insert caustic sarcasm here: ) Well, if Johnny boy won, we wouldn't need to worry about our sick, elderly and young children at all! Wanna know why? Because they would all be deceased! Isn't that nice? Because healthcare sucks, and the elderly can't get money to pay their bills, they will all starve and freeze to death, and wont be a drain on our society anymore! : snorts:

So, tax payers complaints, or never before seen death tolls. Hmm, decisions, decisions.

unownedredhead -> RE: Grandfather's reply to granddaughter (2/4/2009 7:02:43 PM)

That is so sad.  But the way you grew up is not the working class.  it was poverty.  No child should live in poverty.  I have no answers other than jobs, jobs, jobs.  We need more working class people in both our countries.  I had hoped the open communication and free trade and accords between Mexico, USA, and Canada would have come up with a better solution and more profound positive change for all of us.  But the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

Sindel -> RE: Grandfather's reply to granddaughter (2/6/2009 1:20:03 PM)

People dont seem to understand tax cuts and tax increases. Republicans cut taxes, yes, but to the people in a certian amount of annual income, usually way into the 6 digits. The tax increase is not that great, there will be no crazy amounts taken away from the middle class, just a little more in taxes, and pretty much no change for those in poverty.
