Status: offline 		I'm sorry, but everytime I hear/think Nikita, I imagine that Russian guy with the shmenky on his face who banged his shoe on the desk and vowed to bury us. It just wilts my wood.

I speak Russian much better than English. I saw past television program with his shoe banging. He said "We will bury you." People speaking English misunderstand what he mean. In English "We will bury you" means "We will destroy you" or some words close to this. This is not proper Russian meaning. In Russian "We will bury you" means "We will outlast you."

He was saying Soviet Union would outlast America. He was saying Sovit Union would still exist when America stop existing. He was not saying Soviet union would destroy America. I do not know why people who speak Russian in America did not tell media people about. Maybe they did but media people like "destroy" word better. Maybe they like to make news story to sell papers.

Instead. America "buried" Soviet Union.


I study Russian history in college this is why I watch old television of his speech. Translation of language should not be literal. Phrases have different meanings in different languages. This is why some things people write on forum make Nikita say "What??"


There is bell. This concludes class for today. This material will be on test so study.

Class dismissed.
