Hopenchange: Obama White House Disabling Google Caching ,
Wouldn't want to, you know, have to be accountable for what you said, like, yesterday
http://jammiewearingfool.blogspot.com/2009/01/so-much-for-all-that-transparency.html
The White House has silently tripled the number of Web pages that it forbids Google and other search engines from accessing.

and the sheeple are OK with this. If this would have been W , the leftoids would be screaming about WE HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW! But because its “THE ONE” that does it, its ok.

From the comments section under the 'article' you linked:

"Its not even important enough for an article of this length. Adding something to the robot.txt file in no way makes information unavailable. Many search engine even ignore it. This is only to instruct search engine to not include information that may not display properly or be duplicated. This looks like they are telling engines to ignore their search results, which is a proper use of robot.txt and not anything to do with censorship or openness. A robot.txt file does not hide information; nor is it very effective in blocking search engines."

philosophy -> RE: Hopenchange: Obama White House Disabling Google Caching , So much for transparency (2/2/2009 8:36:58 AM)

..and from your link....
"While it would be accurate to state that the White House has in one day tripled the number of sites it excludes from Google crawling, it is also important to note that this is not a big deal--in fact, it doesn't matter at all."
...and....
"Fun as it may be, this is a nonstory."

.....but nice try.

Are we reading the same things?

And it's not my blogger, I wasn't the one who posted this, only pointing out that it does not support, and in fact disputes, what the original poster said.

ALAstella -> RE: Hopenchange: Obama White House Disabling Google Caching , So much for transparency (2/2/2009 9:06:41 AM)

Is this a foray into stand up comedy or something?

kittinSol -> RE: Hopenchange: Obama White House Disabling Google Caching , So much for transparency (2/2/2009 9:18:18 AM)

Hey, OP, have you learnt well from your GOP masters? Did you go to the Karl Rove School of Manipulation? Will you be able to spin this one?

DrRotten77 -> RE: Hopenchange: Obama White House Disabling Google Caching , So much for transparency (2/2/2009 9:26:30 AM)

I love this kind of stuff.  Not even a month into moving into the White House and people already want him to fail.  A lot of them would MUCH rather be on the "winning" team than to see our country succeed.

The difference is W.  had to know who farted in his administration.  Obama is anti-big brother and pro individual rights.  If you want the government in your business, please move to Guantánamo Bay.  I on the other hand like intellectual freedom.

I think he was counting on us not reading past the headline.  Since, ya know, that's the rule in RightWingerLand:  Superficial reading, then quickly forward to all like-minded (non-) thinkers in your email address book with "I knew it!" attached.

Coldwarrior57 -> RE: Hopenchange: Obama White House Disabling Google Caching , So much for transparency (2/2/2009 9:39:06 AM)

It is infact , turn about . As in turn about is fair play.

When cheney  held meetings with energy producing companies , and did not release the minutes of the meeting due to Executive privilege, the left screamed and went NUTS about it. ( totally for getting that clintoon did the same thing)

So now the shoe is on the other foot.
Every step team o makes will and should be questioned.
Why did he do it
What is he trying to hide.
What EXACTLY is going on in the oval orchid office that he is trying to KEEP FROM THE AMERICAN PEOPLE?

This because "DISSENT IS PATRIOTIC"
it was good enough for the past 8 years , its good enough NOW.

Methinks lukewarmarmchairwarrior won't be back to this thread anytime soon[8|]

You would have been better off posting just that. The robot.txt file thingy just made you look silly, in the end.

We learn everyday :-) .

MistresseLotus -> RE: Hopenchange: Obama White House Disabling Google Caching , So much for transparency (2/2/2009 9:46:10 AM)

Could it be that hackers are working overtime to discredit the president by manipulating the search engines  I could be anything.. be it as it may.. it's a far cry from the Patriot Act.

Stop hyperventilating.. sit back.. and see how it goes.  The days of repugnican chicken-little hysteria no longer work.

This is a ridiculous comparison.

To cite executive privilege in a meeting with energy company executives ( held by the Vice-President, a former energy company executive)  to set national energy policy and insist it be kept secret, is in NO WAY even remotely comparable to what you are claiming here.

Which, by the way, as I've mentioned before, your own link discredits.
