Coldwarrior57 -> Obama blows off Medal of Honor recipients. (2/3/2009 3:18:24 PM)

According to TSO who was at the “Salute to Heroes Inaugural Ball”, this newly sworn-in President for the first time in 56 years blew off the ball (that’s 14 Inaugurations).
The American Legion sponsors the ball, which recognizes recipients of Medal of Honor, the nation’s highest military award. It started in 1953 for President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s first inauguration.
Event co-sponsors include 13 other veterans service organizations, among them the Military Order of the Purple Heart and the Paralyzed Veterans of America.

So much for hope n change !
SOS .

windchymes -> RE: Obama blows off Medal of Honor recipients. (2/3/2009 3:24:50 PM)

Yes, I'm sure Mr. Obama just flipped them off and said, "Oh, screw those war veterans, I'm going to go home and watch wrestling!"

Geez, dude, do you know how many balls there were that night?

And, "change" means NOT doing the same thing all the other presidents did, right?

Did you ever think about writing for the Globe?

T1981 -> RE: Obama blows off Medal of Honor recipients. (2/3/2009 3:24:50 PM)

So let me get this straight...The President of the world's leading superpower, a very busy man (we at least assume) decided not to go to a party.

This is bad...because?????

domiguy -> RE: Obama blows off Medal of Honor recipients. (2/3/2009 3:37:13 PM)

Remeber this is the same guy who claims that he does not tolerate lies....But again, he has no ambition whatsoever to find out the truth.

http://isaacs.newsvine.mobi/_news/2009/01/23/2345799-obama-blows-off-medal-of-honor-recipients-not-exactly

"The American Legion, as it has on every inauguration evening since 1953, hosted the Salute to Heroes Inaugural Banquet & Ball on January 20th. The quadrennial event is co-sponsored with fourteen veterans service and military service organizations and honors recipients of the Medal of Honor. Forty-seven of these heroes attended this year’s event which was held in the Renaissance Washington DC Hotel.
President Obama was invited but did not attend. Vice-President Joe Biden did appear, however, and was very warmly received. The new President’s absence was understandable considering the unprecedented logistical challenges presented by the vastly increased number of visitors to this inauguration and the necessary attendant security measures. The American Legion, as an organization, does not feel offended or “snubbed.” "

domiguy,
So nice to have you back, man. :)

Yeah, if anything, the SOS is coming from the right. As always, they give you half the story, to make sure those they have an agenda against are cast in the worst possible light.

Pathetic, really.

Vaughner -> RE: Obama blows off Medal of Honor recipients. (2/3/2009 3:55:20 PM)

I kind of see a point here, the Pres may be busy but if both Bill Clinton and George W can visit the event in question AND make a visit to the Boy Scout National Jamboree (every 4 years) then maybe just maybe Obama can make it to an event the awards those people who have earned the nations highest honor.

windchymes -> RE: Obama blows off Medal of Honor recipients. (2/3/2009 3:56:29 PM)

So, if digging high in their asses to pull stories out is going to be a trend......hmm, might be a good time to buy stock in Preparation H. [8|]

Keep your pearls, my darling, I've a feeling they (like two specific other roundish objects associated with you) haven't quite "dropped" yet from their protective casings....

Those were pearls?  Damn, I thought they were rabbit turds.

Oink.

I'm not sure if that comment about pulling stories out of one's ass was directed at me for my statement or the original post.  (It was posted immediately after mine, if it was intended for the original post never mind me) But Clinton and Bush did attend the Boy Scouts quadra-annual gathering.

http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1G1-56806570.html  (I was at both of them, but since people can say anything on the internet this is the first confirming source I came across)

I just think its kind of poor form for the current Pres to miss this event if past Presidents managed to attend Boy Scout events, much less MoH events.

Did you bother reading my post? Of course not, that would hurt your yiddle brain.

There had never been so many people to show up at an inauguration before...The event was on the sixteenth floor of a building that was not in the exact proximity of one building that Barak went to, that I believe, held five other balls.

But never mind that, I keep forgetting you are a man that is only concerned about the truth!...A lie! is a lie! is a lie!....What a complete crock of shit!

Youare only interested in finding articles and slanderous stories to besmurch the character of a President that you object to.

I love a good argument.  I always wonder when I read posts from people like yourself where were your friends when you were growing up?  You obviously had no one of intelligence around you to call you on your bullshit....Or the people of intelligence did the wise thing and simply distanced themselves from you all together.

Either way.  In a moderated debate you would get torn apart.  Out here you can post what you want, regardless of the factuality or the merit of your source. This is the only way you will find a limited amount of success because so many others, like yourself, care not about integrity or fairplay just as long as the message agrees with their political bias.

You are sad.

That was/is a problem on Bondage.com, too. There might be some exceelnt threads going on tax policy, say, or how Repubs destroy functional parts of the governemtn then turn around and whine about how government doesn't work; you know, reasonably cerebral discussions. Then along comes one of the Rush worshippers with a flurry of moronic threads like "Barney Frank caused meltdown" (I still laugh at the image of Rep. Frank making all those tough, manly-men Repubs his bitches ("mommy! barney fucked me!" hahahaha))  or "Hillary seen picking nose!", shit like that. We call them "Pelosi farts!" threads. Came close to totally ruining that forum. People left in droves.

Only thing to do is put them on ignore. It would be one thing if every once in a while, one of them would say "Good point. I'll have to think about that." NEVER happens, does it? I have NEVER seen one of them change their mind, except once, when one of them finally understood that Climate is not Weather.

Peace.

No, actually it was directed at the comments made by domiguy and MarsBonfire in response to the OP.

But seriously....I don't see the sense in bashing a guy who got elected on a campaign based on "change", but did something different than presidents before him.

I mean, his wife and daughters wore bullet-proof clothing to his oath of office ceremony.  That was different, too.  Are we going to bash him for being "paranoid"?

It's like the old saying, if your friends all jump off a bridge, are you going to jump off, too?

There were dozens of inaugural balls held in the city that whole weekend.  He could not possibly have attended them all.  He was represented by his second in command.  Any intelligent thinker would see that, as mentioned, any ball he planned to attend would turn into a security nightmare.  There's a big difference between prioritizing and "snubbing" any particular organization.  And the Medal of Honor organization itself has gone on record saying they understood his reason for not personally attending and that they themselves did not feel "snubbed".  But yet, the OP felt the need to take a little anthill, yes, out of his ass, and try to build a mountain of shit out of it.

Obviously, his candidate did not get elected, so he's mad and is going to have his little tantrums for the next eight years now, till his ass freaking bleeds.

OrionTheWolf -> RE: Obama blows off Medal of Honor recipients. (2/3/2009 4:58:44 PM)

Those that hosted the ball, and the ones it was for were not offended, why are you?

I get what you were saying now, I only skimmed over the article and did not notice that Biden attended and thus thought neither the CnC or the VP attended, which would have been poor form.  (That's what I get for skimming).

Not surprising is it that the lefties here are whining about the "negative Obama threads"...Gee...they were almost giddy in recent years over every poke and jab at President Bush....calling him criminal, stupid, lying, and that the "war in Iraq was lost",  attacking Bush for not removing troops from Iraq immediately, demeaning the mission while troops were dying in the field...and no one complained about the "number of negative threads" from the left.

Well..while Obama picks himself up, dusts himself off, and begins again after a lousy start to his administration, we will continue to watch this "boy wonder" who walks on water...but can't pick nominee's for his cabinet despite "intense vetting".  Sorry...but as I said in the previous thread, the Obama Administration is the best friend of people trying to rebuild the republcian brand...and if the President provides the reason...those of us in the minority can be expected to react forcefully.
