My dad was scheduled to have a cardiac catheterization on the 13th. I didnt want to mention that it was Friday the 13th...so I kept my mouth shut and hoped the fact that it was also my late grandmother's birthday would sort of even out the luck (yes, nurses are incredibly ...dont you dare say the words "quiet" or "bored" on my unit). Well, there was an error in the way his medication was ordered and subsequently dispensed and administered, which was caught by the nurse at the cath lab and it was postponed til Monday. Had it not been caught, he could have had serious or even fatal complications. So....it seems the bad luck of the 13th was, indeed, avoided, confirming belief that my late grandma was "watching over him" on her birthday. Now I've been tell him that having it on Monday is as good as having it on my late grandma's birthday because Dr. King will be watching over him on that day. I told you nurses are given to superstitious leanings...another Friday the 13th survived without injury, but hardly SSDD.
