subSerena -> Master Training in Germany ? (2/3/2009 9:13:05 PM)

Hi everyone ! I recently discovered these forums and love learning here. There is a question that has been baffling me for almost ten years (never had an answer that makes sense.) Is there a place in Berlin that trains Doms to be Masters ? I met a man ages ago who made this claim but he didn't provide specifics. He confused me when he said he had been 'tested' to reach "Master" title and status. Is this legit or was he pulling my leg? Really it sounded like so much fabrication, and I've never heard anyone else reference this "school". If it's for real, people in the community would know about it; will somebody please help me solve this riddle, thanks !

At a rough guess it sounds like, if he was being honest, that he was part of something akin to the Old Guard leather Folk where, I understand, everyone started as a submissuve and those with Dominant tendancies graduated via training and testing (An apprenticeship if you will), to being recognised as a Dominant and later with experience and further guidence, recognised as a Master. I have heard tell that in some groups when a new Master of created on his graduation he is formally given his leather peaked cap.. Not 100% sure on this but there are some here who can correct this if needs be.....

Thank you IronBear, for illumination.

Not specifically, that I am aware, but Berlin has changed a lot since Reunification. There are plenty of training centers for various types of BDSM in Germany, however, and these branch out into (mostly) Spain in summer. Germans have been actively setting up clubs and farms in the former Soviet republics (Poland, Hungary) as well. You'll need to be fluent in German to find them, make the connections, and attend, they don't take tourists.

With respect to the gentlemen who have posted above, I must add... it's possible (depending on how well you knew him and how much faith you would put in him) that he was pulling your leg and might not have ever been to Germany. Given the tales of "Secret Master Academies" I'd be inclined to believe the former over the latter unless I had reason to do otherwise.

JustDarkness -> RE: Master Training in Germany ? (2/4/2009 1:31:40 AM)

I looked it up on german google. There are sessions and trainings to become Dom(ina) in Berlin. (and in other German cities)But I have seen them in Amsterdam also guess it is not so special anymore. Finding a good one will be difficult I guess. ths one if from Stuttgart for example.http://bdsm-seminare-und-sm-kurse.de/

Whilst he may well have went to Germany to train i m not sure i would give additional credbility to someone making these claims as first and foremost it would be hunting a needle in a haystack to find a training academy with credible qualifications(who trained the trainer!)

It all has a whiff of the castlerealm claims of ancient houses of Dominance and submission and secrets only known to a few etc etc.

Germany has a very large bdsm and fetish scene so its all possible but frankly i would take it with a pinch of salt.
Be well

Ahh... really? You mean there isn't this sub in Peru looking for German connections on a board in the US? I am sooooooooo disappointed.... *grin*

subSerena -> RE: Master Training in Germany ? (2/4/2009 7:11:46 AM)

... needs more info eh
I spend part of each yr out of US. Not looking for a 'connection' but rather verification. The man who told me (ok ~ bragged) of his Masterful 'creds' was stationed in Germany . I caught him in some whoppers (married in 2 states to 2 women at once, unknown to each other, for example) so wondered how true the Teutonic training . I had the feeling his involvement was somewhat exaggerated; overall his actions never matched his words.
I thank everyone for the input. This is really interesting. Just doing my homework.

feydeplume -> RE: Master Training in Germany ? (2/4/2009 1:59:10 PM)

There are a number of classes and workshops held all over THIS country that focus on techniques and tools, mental and spiritual connects, developing your own true way, and a zillion other things. Check out the webpages for local and distant groups if you really want to learn and be in the company of others that want to learn new things or improve their skill sets.

It's ok. At least there are people willing to give you a million dollars, once you send them a few thousand to prove you are trustworthy. [;)]

antipode -> RE: Master Training in Germany ? (2/5/2009 2:24:40 AM)

Ah. Explanations help. But there is no such thing, per se, as "teutonic training". There are a few European countries where sex clubs and BDSM clubs and prostitution are fully legal activities, and things like training academies are a normal part of the scene there. Brothels and clubs are accredited and registered, and charge accordingly.

But as I said, if you do not speak German or Dutch or French or one of the Scandinavian languages, you will not be able to do your homework beyond "they exist".

CelitanBT -> RE: Master Training in Germany ? (2/5/2009 2:39:11 AM)

O.k. usually i stay away from the boards... but this is fun.

First, i am german, i was to Berlin and cologne, which may be along with Hamburg the main places of the scene.

actually i spoke recently with a very expirienced Master (20 years in the lifestyle and going) about just that thing - and yes, there are kind of Workshops to learn the right whip technique, shibari and all the stuff... most local bdsm clubs have that once a month.

After that said, we had a big laugh at the "cerified Doms", "Double certified Doms" and very "golden certified Masters" thats rubish, they pay lots of money to get a spanking lesson from a professional Domina, i have seen Weekend classes for 600+ Euros.

And the people that brag about being "certified" just state that they found no real lifing Master to talk to them but instead bought some skills.

Yes, there are even in the scene Rumours of "castles" or estates like shown in "Story of O" in fact i know of kind of bed and breakfast hotels for lifestylers, go, meet people, some go regular, and the plus on the rooms is that they have enough hooks and stuff that you can play - and that people dont mind if some are a little underdressed.

All you can train is skill, the Master part needs to be there before, and then guided and Mentored by an more expirienced Master...
just my opinion

Celitan

600+ euro's for a weekend sound attractive. Guess dream jobs do excist..lol

subSerena -> RE: Master Training in Germany ? (2/7/2009 6:39:55 PM)

More THANKS! This gets better and better --- I do recall rather grand titles being tossed about, and arguments with another Dom about who had higher status. I am not sure who was meant to be impressed, or if it was a Clash of the Egos, Either way, I have a much clearer sense of the picture, as well as a lighter approach - I was taking everything they said so seriously back then. It sets better in my mind now.
So, IronBear, Antipode, Aquasub, JustDark, Knite, FeydePlume and Ceiltan: much appreciation!
Bamagirl ~ your crush sounds delightful !

ZenDragoness -> RE: Master Training in Germany ? (2/8/2009 10:23:12 AM)

I am living in Berlin for more than 20 years. I never heard of a special Master Training here. Berlin has a very big BDSM scene and as some of the writers before mentioned there are courses and seminars held for becoming a domina and techniques as whipping or shibari, but nothing like Master Training or certified courses.

But i renember that in a chat i belonged to some years ago, the founding of a Dom Academy was a running gag and future candidates were often chosen.

KataNykanen -> RE: Master Training in Germany ? (2/8/2009 12:14:43 PM)

There are circles that work like the above "Old Guard" described ones, and maybe they are in Berlin too.
But it's not easy to find them and difficult to join them. They keep to themselves and the German "scene" as it developed during the last, say, five years, tends to scoff at them.

To hear someone talk about the "Master grades" he claims to have earned makes most probably that he never saw one of these circles from inside. They aren't talkative.

I never heard about a "Dom/Master training" here, I heard about technique workshops and some "How to be a Domina" workshops, but that's all.

I never came across such a "training center" and Spanish branches of them, and clubs and farms as you describe. Interesting.

They don't take tourists? Is that why most of the websites are multilingual?n The reunification was 1990, almost 20 years ago, I'm willing to bet that most major cities change a lot in 20 years.

About 4 years ago, Avalon started building their own mini OWK and a training facility, so I assume that is what was meant, but I wouldn't be surprised if there are more. Actually not too many branch out into Spain or the former communist countries due to problems with legality, why would they since BDSM is perfectly legal in Germany and a lot of the countries who used to be part of the Eastern block have rules and regulations in place that limit what foreigners can do (mainly to avoid foreigners buying up the property, as happened in Prague where it was almost impossible for natives to own property due to foreign investors who drove the prices up).

Esinem -> RE: Master Training in Germany ? (2/8/2009 4:42:05 PM)

I know a number of pro-dommes here offer training for dom/mes but no official certification. Maybe Rezidanz Avalon could help? Anyway, I think reputation is far more credible that any number of domming diplomas. If you want 1st class shibari lessons, Zamil of ArtSensual is your man.
