ORIGINAL: ChastityLocked im no expert at posture collars, but id sure like to kno a bit about them. it seems like theres a lot of diff types. i was thinking about getting one for someone, but what height should I start at? i kno they all are a little different, but would any of thoes work for a first timer? or should i start off small? Much depends on the length of the neck. A heavy-set person with a short neck and double chins will not be able to immediatly wear a 4" collar (and might never be able to do so). It's best to measure the neck before deciding on a posture collar, Neck size is usually measured with a sewing tape measure. This is not the most accurate method for measuring for the fit of a collar unless the collar is the same width of the tape measure. Measurements for wide collars vary depending on the height of the neck, presence of skin under the chin (ie: double chins) and size of adams apple. When we make custom collars we suggest that the wearer cut a piece of cardstock paper the width of the collar desired. Wrap the cardstock around the neck and measure that length. I have a 14" neck yet for a 3" wide collar I would need one that fits at 15" (and this does not include extra length for insertion into the buckle. ) Just to note: The neck corset collar you linked is not really a posture collar. It has light boning (ie: probably nylon) to give it stiffness but the boning will bend quite easily. I also do not recommend a front lace collar for wear during play. Should something happen during a scene (ie: seizure) and you need to remove the collar quickly a knife would be speedy..but a knife to the throat of a bottom in seizure might prove fatal. The corset collar we make has a buckle on the back in addition to the lacing in front.
