bumblebee1 -> delayed come down (2/5/2009 9:09:49 AM)

My Master and i have been togeather for 2 years now and have continued to gradually push my boundaries to a point where i trust him entirely in play. We have recently pushed my caning to a point where i asked to be caned into sub space and not stop until i said my safe word.This was a fantastic experience which we both enjoyed. What im asking is, we both felt fine the following day, but god did we feel awful the day after! I know when im coming down and always prepare for it, but this time it actually prevented me getting out of bed, my legs were just unable to function.My master says its because i was pushed and my mind and body have reacted to this. Also master struggled with his come down the same time as myself and said he had never suffered like this before, and that he had never been able to push anyone as far as hes pushed me and so its new territorty for us both. He has been a master for many (28 ) yrs and is very much old school with high beliefs in respect and care. This isnt some silly comment, but we would love to hear if anyone else has suffered such a delayed comedown from a new experience and how to cope with it,many thanks

I have also suffered from the delayed come down. The advice I've seen from others is to take care of yourself well physically - make sure you eat right, get enough sleep etc., and pamper yourself.  Maybe a nice bubble bath with scented candles nearby or mediation could be helpful to you.  Interact with others and don't allow yourself to get into a funk.  It seems that the price that we pay for the highs are the lows that follow.  Know that what you are going through isn't abnormal, and neither of you did anything wrong.  There was simply a delay.

You cope with it like any drop really.  Sometimes chemicals take a little while to work their way out of the system, and especially if you've gotten used to them, it can be harder and longer for them to get out.

And next time you'll be better prepared so you can prep yourselves emotionally and physically beforehand.

It's not uncommon for subdrop, and topdrop for that matter, to not hit until a day after. The long caning probably released a lot of endorphins and they may have stayed in the system longer.

I will ask, if you were more careful about preparing for this heavier a scene than normal. Did you have a good night's sleep before hand? Thoroughly hydrated? Had eaten light but nutritious foods? Had prepared hot drinks, cold water, fruit, protein and chocolate for immediately afterward?

In addition if you've been suffering from a cold, or any such minor ailment, that also can cause drop to be worse than normal.
