That doesn't always work, some of them make sure the email is valid via a few different methods. If a login is required they might email you the password, or if you choose the password you might get an email with a "confirnation page" link that you must visit once to actually register. Other times, really I would like to be emailed a tracking number, but of course I don't want the spam. One place I am exceedingly not happy with is Global Computer, they have been spamming me for two years, and I'll tellya right now if you ever buy anything that has a rebate, and you have to go to onrebates.com to get it, don't buy it. Or take it without the rebate. I am serious, I have never had such a pain in the ass in my life, and THEN they spam me for years. On the sites where you jump though the hoops, yes you need a valid email, and a printer, and stamps etc., it says your email will not be sold, well the thing is, they are exactly the people who I would not want it sold to in the first place ! What do these people think, that I need a new monitor and a new laptop every friggin week ? They just about wrecked an email for me, I'll tell you but will leave out the domain to make it CM legal. ZZactly. I got it without being forced to put anything with it, that means I was the first on the domain with it. When will the hard sell people realize, if I want something from you I will call you. I won't waste your time, please don't waste mine. Now I have an idea ! Let's fight back, get a phone book and call every company in there that telemarkets. Just say "No I don't want any __________ (whatever they sell) but I just thought I would call you to let you know how courteous your telemarketers are". Return the favor. If one hundred people did this in a given "market", like a city, whatever, maybe it would send a message. I don't know about you, but where I work, phone calls about bullshit are not welcome. So to make a long story short (too late I guess) the base answer is no. You are not the only one. More on tactics later. I got some good ones, all legal, all on the up and up so to speak. As far as real scammers, easy. They want bank account numbers, well I would just say "It would be easier for you to give me your numbers including routing numbers and I'll let my bank handle it. Then, I will get the swiftest notification that the funds are clear and can then proceed to (get your ticket to America, whatever)". A scammer would then most likely claim that they have no time for that, that they must get out soon beause someone is after them. I like to toy with people like that. T
