susie -> Feeling Down (2/6/2009 11:54:20 AM)

I am generally not a moody person and I tend to be cheerful through most things. The staff at the hospital were surprised that I was so up beat following my operationa and radiotherapy. So why is that today for no apparent reason I feel the most down I have felt in a long long time. Its been made worse by the fact that Master has been called away on a family emergency and will be gone overnight and much of tomorrow.

How do you get over feeling miserable like this. I am just not used to it.

susie, what goes up must come down and, thankfully, what goes down must come up. That's life. It will change and blow over. In the meantime, be your own best friend and take good care of yourself. Pamper yourself as you would a good friend who is feeling as you do.

Indulge yourself. Let yourself cry if you have to, then have your favourite dinner and dessert. Watch your favourite movie or tv programme, or read something you love. Take a nice long hot bubble bath if that is your thing. Just spoil yourself rotten and make sure you get a good night of sleep.

You know what I do when I feel like that?  I act like a kid again, I go do something fun.  Remember when you were a kid?  You could have fun anywhere.  I have a secret....*whispers*...you still can.  I can have a grand ol' time anywhere.

susie -> RE: Feeling Down (2/6/2009 12:45:32 PM)

Thanks all. I have just spoken to Master which made me feel a bit better. Just typical that he has to be away on a night that I am feeling like this. Still thats life.

I think the idea of a hot bath with a good book sounds like a good way to go.

hugs all

Spoil yourself, susie.  You deserve it after all those medical experiences.  [sm=flowers.gif]

Feel better soon Susie, I usually have a long hot bath, some trancy music, some candles burning and a glass of red wine when I feel down.
Take care of yourself and hopefully it will hep somewhat

All great suggestions here.  I've tried them all..particularly the "red wine" and it does help a bit. The main thing hon is that you are out
of the hospital and can look forward to your Masters return.  Maybe thinking about some way to surprise him might cheer you up..."wink"
Maybe some people here might have some ideas in that regard..betcha!

Susie, your body has been through  a shock. Surgery effects your system not just physically but emotionally.  You may need extra vitamins and minerals.  Call  a friend  to come over and have them give you a foot massage with some wonderful aromatherapy lotion that has peppermint in it. The physical touch and the peppermint scent are very uplifting. Aromatherapy is a wonderful tool for altering your mood.
Above all else be patient with yourself your body is going through a healing process. It's ok to feel down trust me it will pass.
Sending good thoughts and wishes you way!

Thanks for all the advice and lovely pm's. It did help. Shows what a lot of nice people there are on the forums.

DarkSteven -> RE: Feeling Down (2/7/2009 6:26:46 AM)

susie, sounds to me like you're having the natural reaction to what you went through.  The hospital staff expected it and it came, just delayed.  It's natural, and was to be expected.

Licks coffee off the screen.

Hmmm, Kopi Luwak, Indonesian Gold, $600 a pound, $50 a cup actually.

Pampering.  Hot bath, a movie (go out to the movies, if you can - it's better then being secluded at home), get a pedicure.  If the weather is bearable, take a walk, even a short one.  It gets the blood circulating and your lungs oxygenated.

And, cliche as it sounds, know that this too shall pass.

Best wishes for you, Susie.
