ProtagonistLily -> Needle Play and Bloodsports (1/15/2006 4:56:30 PM)

Hi all,

I was very fortunate to go to a workshop this weekend on bloodsports and needle play. I know this is very 'edgy' for some people, and I'm not really looking for people to agree or disagree with it as a valid form of play.

This was never something I was interested in on the 'SM continuum' and medical play has never really been my 'bag' so to speak. I've done a lot of knife-interrogation scenes, but I've only been cut intentionally during one of those scenes. (my reaction was 'OMG I didn't know what I was missing...) Sir and I try to avail ourselves to every opportunity to learn something new and that was one of the reasons why we went.

The presenter was fantastic and as a medical professional, extreamly knowledgeable. She covered the topic very throughly, talking about the practice from a RACK perspective with particular attention to risk management, keeping a steril field, discussing medical issues/history with someone you are going to do blood sports with and specifically about the needles themselves. Once she covered all the important talking points, she started a demo with needles, both perpendicular and parallel insertion, did a butterfly board demonstration and then did a cutting demo using a scalpul. Although at times I was queezy and had to back away from being close up to the subject on the table, I could see Sir's eyes dancing as he watched what was happening.

This was not something I was jumping at the chance to do either before, during or after the demo, but it was clear to me that Sir had more than a passing interest. One of the things that was exciting for us is that it was something neither of us have ever done. Often, due to my years in the scene, I am exposing him to things that I like and setting up learning opportunities for him in order to perform them on me. This was a whole differant ball of wax. We were both novices here.

After the demo concluded, I suggested that we approach the presenter to ask if she might work with us during the party the same evening and she said yes.

The presenter was ready to work with us toward the end of the evening and as she and Sir discussed things, I was instructed to strip and wait. When they were ready, the had me get up on the table and they both started to warm up my skin was some light sensation play. They started me on a breathing regime, taking deep breaths and letting them out. A few minutes later, Sir began to clean the areas where he was going to place the needles with Iodine and then alcohol and instructed me to take the deep breaths and let them go. Then he told me to hold my breath as he inserted an 18 gauge needle into my abdominal flesh. The sensation was like nothing I was prepared for. It was painful, but at the same time, the rush of neurochemicals flooded my body and I felt as if I was floating several inches off the table. Sir and the presenter had decided that they would do 4 placements, which took about 10 minutes or so to do. Sir did 2 and the presenter did 2, so that he could watch her technique and learn. Even though I was orbiting somewhere around Jupiter, I could tell the differance between Sir's needles and the presenter's. Because she is experienced, her placement was much smoother and hurt less. But all in all, the neurochemicals were racing through me and at that point, 4 needles could have turned into 400 and I would have been perfectly happy.

It was around this time that I started to get giggly. I had so many endorphine's running through me I was down right looped. I reacted like I'd never dreamed; I was totally and completely high (and unbelievably horny). They did 4 straight in placements of 28 gauge 1/2 inch needles, 2 on my abdomen and 1 in each nipple at that point. The nipples hurt much more than I'd expected them to, but again, I was flying so high the pain didn't really mean much.

We just sort of hung out for the next 20 minutes, me flying and Sir talking with the presenter, both of them constantly checking on me. Apparently, as I too joined in the conversation, telling sort of weirdly nonsequitorial stories to the presenter and generally enjoying the hell out of life.

There was very little pain when the needles came out, and after they cleaned the insertion points, Sir took me to the 'quiet' area for aftercare.

I continued to be 'loopy' for the next hour, and finally started to come down once we were headed home. The presenter instructed me to eat some chocolate and cautioned us that because my high was so high, I might end up crashing and having an out of the blue crying jag, which happily did not happen to me.

All in all, I'm usually not the girl who signs up for this kind of play. However, if I had let my fear of it dictate, Sir and I wouldn't have had the wonderful experience that we did, we would have missed out on something new to add to our cadre of things we enjoy, and we would have missed the opportunity to get even closer than we already are.

For those of you who have an opportunity to try this kind of play, I highly (no pun intended) recommend it ~grin~

It's always good to hear about people's experiences. I for one would love to do needle play but need a mentor and a subject to do it on might help. Hehe.
It's good to know you did experience it, I know when I first joined the lifestyle I thought there were things I'd never do like knife play. Blood play is still a limit for me right now, but one day I just might give it a try.

Lady JC,

Every once in a while, I take out my first BDSM Check list and laugh hysterically about the things at that time I said were hard limits and would never change.

One of the most wonderful things about this life is we grow in so many differant ways and directions.

Warmly,
Kassie, Mike's girl

Kassie,

What a wonderful way to experience your first temp piercing. I've been an avid devotee of piercing for several years now and just wanted to suggest, if you want to get even more out of the experiences, to do some research on the history of piercing. It's absolutely fascinating stuff. Also, now that you've experienced the smaller gauge, you might want to try some of the other gauges and perhaps even try some of the more unusual aspects, such as needle corsets, belling and the like so that not only do you get the 'sensation' aspects, but you get the visually appealing spectrum as well. ::they make for wonderful keepsake pics!:: The ultimate experience for me was the opportunity to participate in a ball dance in which the needles used are hollow point and line is run through them, then small objects are tied off the lines and you dance. You get so used to the weight that it's actually disappointing to have to, eventually, remove them. Anyway, so happy to hear of the positive experience you had. :)

I know what you mean LOL, I updated my checklist on b.com and found I was something like 74% pure when I first did it, after I updated it I'm like 54% or something like that. I couldn't help but laugh.

I absolutly love needleplay, and it was the very first thing within bdsm i was introduced to... so for me, funnily enough, needleplay is the norm, and getting paddled is something i would be a bit caucious about...

I've never gotten that high from needles, but it makes me so so horny, i don't even notice till i start aching, i just love watching them in...

Lucky you gettin them done in that setting, not with a novice fiidling around makin it hurt more than it should..

did u have any marks? I know they usually don't but i love beein able to look at my marks after it all is finished, so my partner has tried twisting the needles as they are pulled out, not nly for the great sensation, but also to make them bruise more..

Sensualips -> RE: Needle Play and Bloodsports (1/15/2006 6:08:13 PM)

This is similar to my experience with needle play I posted about a few weeks back. I did not get quite as "loopy" as Lily, but the pain was low and the pleasant floaty feeling was high. Like many of you, this is a type of play I would not have really considered 4-6 months ago.

That sounds like a great demo too. Lily, did you have any bleeding when the needles were removed and what was your reaction to that? What about bruising later?

kyraofMists -> RE: Needle Play and Bloodsports (1/15/2006 6:42:43 PM)

Kassie,

Thank you for sharing. I love blood play, though needles... not so much, but I am slowly warming to the idea.

Oh yes I have marks LOL. We cleaned them last night and I just followed Sir's instructions to wash the enter/exit points with soap and water.

One of the best parts of the workshop for me was the attention to detail the presenter took discussing the "care and feeding" of the bottom before, during and after. It makes me feel good to know that people who are presenting on the 'edier/riskier' practices are accutely aware of and remember that the bottom is very integral to WIIWD.

I had some bleeding and I have some bruising, neither of which suprise me much. The presenter covered Keyloids, which I am suseptable to, so we are watching for those as well. I'm putting Neosporin on the entry 'wounds' in the hopes of avoiding keyloids.

Someone mentioned needle corsets. Sir's already investigating those.....~grin~

and then of course i had-to eventually take them out..as they were starting to sting like all hell and i was getting nervous.
so yes.."I" highly say..if you can do it..by gawd go for it.
i also liked the nipple cupping after fire play...

I’m glad to hear you enjoyed the experience.

We’ve done some needle play and cutting in the past. Needle play isn’t a huge favorite of mine, it feels a bit to sterile. But it can be fun to do at times. Cutting (with a knife) is my preference because I find it very intimate and feral. There’s nothing like my owner carving his initials into my body, like you’d cut your initials into your favorite tree…

Ask him to consider doing the corset with the hollow points rather than wrap the thongs around the needles. Insert the hollow point like you would any regular gauge needle, then run a fishing line through the needle. ::I wipe off the line with alcohol before running it through the needle as well.:: Remove the needle with your standard safety measure, but leave the line in place. Tie off the line so it forms a loop. Once you've got the loops down each side of the back, you can run your thongs through. I've invested in some various size wood beads to also thread along my corsets. You can make amazing patterns with them. For the loop corsets, I suggest going with a vertical needle insertion along each side of the back so you can tie off the thongs a bit tighter and make the designs stand out rather than droop. To remove the loops, just follow the same safety measure as when you remove the needle. Hold a cotton ball soaked in your same pre-wash against the end of the loop after you make a snip and slide them right out.

I'm getting giddy. I need to go sew someone. lol

Very great story of experience. The ratio of endorphins released for the pain induced is pretty phenomenal for needle play. Nifty.

mistoferin -> RE: Needle Play and Bloodsports (1/16/2006 6:21:54 AM)

Thanks Lily for sharing your story. As someone who really enjoys needle play it was nice to read about your experiences. If you are also a fan of electricity....somewhere down the road you may want to combine the needle play with something like a violet wand....the sensation is yummy! If you don't like electricity though....then just scratch that idea...lol.

IronBear -> RE: Needle Play and Bloodsports (1/16/2006 6:26:52 AM)

It was really great to read the OP’s post about her first road trip into the arena of needle play. Perhaps a few more folk who ate teetering on the edge will take the next step and try it.

Until I can find a suitable person to practice needle play on (under the supervision of a very good mentor and Pro Dommie), I use myself to practice on. I get about the same endorphin “rush” as I have when I have needed to repair myself when injured in combat (usually would cleaning and suturing. The buzz is pleasant but not overly dramatic and I know where I am at all times and can remove the needles and get on with doing other things without any perceptible differences. I use 21 gauge 1” syringe needles, and clean the area with the alcohol steri swabs and latex surgical gloves.
