All responses are greatly appreciated! :o)

If it were me receiving a Valentine's gift, I'd much rather have the feather you're playing with.

I thank everyone for their responses! They've been great to read, and definitely helped me with my decision. I did end up surprising him, but I found a rather cheeky way of doing it.  While we were cuddling on the couch last night he brought up how he wanted to clean his apartment this weekend. As I had done the dishes before for him, much to his liking, I offered to do it again. He said "No, whatever you do, do not wash the dishes" and he said this because he had thrown some food out from the refrigerator down the drain that was making everything smell gross and he didn't want me to have to deal with that. So I said, "okay, I promise you, I won't wash your dishes." [sm=angel.gif]

So instead I just washed all of his laundry (which even at the laundromat still took me about three hours... he had literally every piece of clothing he owned on the floor waiting to be washed), folded them and put them back where they belonged, made his bed nicely, scrubbed the entire bathroom top to bottom, and vacuumed the entirety of the apartment. I took someone's idea from here and put a note on his door and said "I hope you like it!" with a bow. Unfortunately I got called in for work and couldn't stay around to wait for him, but I left a note on top of the dirty dishes saying "I DIDN'T WASH THE DISHES!!"

He called me the minute he got home, speechless, but very much appreciative.  He told me he called his best friend to rave about how I surprised him with such a great gift. (Yay me, hehe!) But the funny thing is his best friend said he would have *HATED* if his girlfriend or anyone else did that for him because he's so possessive over his stuff. I definitely didn't throw anything away or reorganize, I just did as much as I could without rearranging.  I made sure to tell him I threw nothing away, and he said that was a good decision. So luckily I got to test the waters a bit, and the mission was accomplished successfully! Thanks again everyone for your help!
