I'm back after taking a little time off. The advice has been wonderful and I have a much better view of the situation. You guys are right: building future around someone I'd never met is not only crazy, it's dangerous. It's something I'd never have done in a vanilla relationship. EVER. I guess in getting involved in this life, I was like Alice falling down the rabbit hole. All the rules seemed to be completely different; in actuality, they are not.

Update...
I will take a vacation to his city next month (I let him know I needed to see him in his city), but my expectations are completely different. I have booked a place to stay, and we will meet in a public place just as I would with any strange man. If it works, of course it would be great, if not, I will have had a lovely visit to a city I haven't visited since college. Nothing, of course, in my future will be decided on one meeting. I've realized just how ridiculous it was to think that it was possible to expect to have a monogomous relationship with a stranger on the other side of the world. I feel as though your postings have helped me find my feet in this rabbit hole. Many thanks.

Just as I have decided to investigate life as a slave, I have also decided to do it as intelligently as possible. So no, a slave doesn't have to be a fool if she doesn't chose to be.

long distance relationships never work and finding someone local is a chore all in itself.

maybe i'm a bit bitter over my current journey, but to me it's like a Catch-22

on the one hand: you can always find "The One", but more often than not, they are a long distance away.

on the other hand: you can "see" several Dom(me)s in your area, but they never seem to be interested in someone local.

it's like going to store and seeing what you want, but can't get in the door, but you go home and get on the computer, you can find the same item online...but you can't afford the shipping. so you're usually stuck wishing for something you'll never have.

(end of rant)

I have to agree with Lucky here. Building your life around an Internet relationship without REALLY knowing him wasn't the smartest thing to do. I'm sorry to seem harsh but you need to know that there are REAL people who will care about you for you and you won't be placed second.Take a moment and decided what is important to you in a relationship and stick to it. Good luck--Lady
