how come came4u's posts always say "Awaiting Approval"? Is that some forum setting that only she turned on?

The book "The Joy of Cooking" is a timeless must have for all kitchens..it not only covers recipes..but even goes as far as to tell you how to prepare dinner parties...formal dining, etiquette, place settings, measurements etc. It covers most anything you would want to know about how to cook from easy dishes to the most extravagant ones with all step by step. Its one of the oldest cookbooks on the market today and the best in my opinion because it is full of so much information pertaining to cooking. I have my mothers that's 25 years old and I also got the new 50Th years edition as a Christmas gift this past year..The reason I love it so much is because it not only has recipes but so much information about anything to do with your kitchen and cooking.

I also recommend a nice set of cooking apparel. Stainless Steel cookware is the best to cook with ....that cheap non stick stuff may be easier clean up...but its toxic when scratched or chipped and should be thrown away immediately.  I inherited my mothers cookware that she had for 35 years, all stainless steel and heavy weighted and even cooking for electric or gas ranges. Just buy some "Bar Keepers Friend" cleanser, its the best for cleaning stainless steel, and of course use your basic dish washing liquid before hand.

Good luck with your cooking adventures. I love to cook and always admire someone looking to further their cooking experiences and bring joy to others through food. It is very fulfilling as well to be praised for such a good meal that you have prepared.

Hit me up anytime off  the board if you have cooking questions..I love to talk about cooking.

...And if you want to actually learn cooking try the less intense shows on the Foot Network.  No doubt somebody on here can suggestion some. Some of the competitions make good chefs have nervous breakdowns.  lol

I LOVE the Food Network but I learned the hard way that many of the recipes posted on the FN website are not table-ready. I lost track of the times I've had to print a recipe, actually prepare the recipe then go back and adjust everything. The Garlic Citrus chicken recipe is a prime example.
