I've always been fascinated with hypnosis, and I was just interested to hear about anyones experiences with this. I'm mainly concerned with the reality of all of this, as there are a lot of pro-Domme sites online that make many aspects of hypnotism sound a bit unrealistic. I was curious if anyone has been hypnotized before, or is interested in it, and would love to hear if it's worked before and what people enjoy doing in terms of hypnosis and bdsm.

As a psychologist, I have always had a strong interest in hypnosis. I have met many people in the BDSM community that do have those unrealistic expectations for what they can or can't with hypnosis. My experience with hypnosis tho, I don't mind talking about.

More times than not, I use hypnosis as one tool to better understand my sub/slave's limits, why they are there, and what is it going to take to get past them. Usually, once you discover the true reason for a limit - coming up with a solution isn't far behind.

Hypnosis can also be a valuable tool for humiliation. I gave a hypno presentation at a workshop once and gave the suggestion that my subject (who was last years contest winner) to sing and act out the I'm A Little Teapot song whenever he heard the word "Lunch" - an effective form of friendly humiliation, considering the presentation was over at 12 noon.

Sometimes, even the best situations can have their negative side effects. I wrote down on a sheet of paper "thank you for giving me a shoulder massage", and put it in a sealed envelope. Under hypnosis, I gave him that suggestion, telling him also not to consciously remember the suggestion once he had been brought out of hypnosis, but reinforcing that he give me the shoulder massage. That afternoon, well before dinner, I gave him the envelope and told him to put it in his back pocket for later. After dinner, he decided to give me a back rub, after which I told him to look in the envelope and read the note. To put it mildly, he freaked out... not quite sure if the thought had been mine or his, how it happened, or what else I had put in there. The situation did work itself out ... over time.

I fully do agree with you that much of what is out there involving hypnosis is pure fantasy, and bares no resemblance to anything realistic. However, with an open mind, a willingness to investigate the possibilities - I am sure you can find that there is a lot more that you can do than you realize.

I've been asked from time to time what I thought of this. My answer remains the same. I don't find myself prone to hypnosis.

I've had a few try it. One try to even get me to go to this site on line where you can sit and watch a spinning wheel with sentances and words popping up. I found it annoying. If i'm supose to consintrate on the spinning wheel, how am i suppose to see the words popping up? Then it was tried via the phone. I again could not understand why it was important to him to hypnotize me. Finlly I told him, the only way this "MIGHT" work is going to be face to face. But bing how I feel i'm not prone to this, I doubt it would happen then.

Master Corky, my question to you..... after your post... is... can one that isn't .. or feels isn't prone to hypnosis .... be hypnotized? I ask because all though I seel I'm not prone to full hypnosis... the relaxation of it.... ( I did manage to get that far.. )... was great.

Being lazy here. Do a search for the word hypnosis. You will find about a dozen good discussions we've had on it.

Being both a Psychologist and Hypnotherapist amongst other things, I always have concerns about such techniques as hypnosis in the hands of untrained and/or inexperienced practitioners. However I have no intention of repeating the long and interesting debate we hade in the “Ask a Master” Forum a few months ago. I recommend that y’all do what LA said and do a search in the archives, I’ve found the one I was referring to so you can start off with that.
