Why do you say that? I thought Obama was going to create all those new jobs. When he said change, I thought he meant a good change not a change like this "I predict there will be MORE government assistance programs created/and or expanded, as the need for them increases!"

LaTigresse -> RE: Good News Story! Two less homeless people! Thank you President Obama! (2/13/2009 6:59:25 AM)

Yes, I will be impressed when there are people working and zero's behind the 2.

This story is just a press bite, feel good, story. Not impressive. Besides, last I read, it wasn't our president that gave them the home.

Mia, I think we are going to be on opposite sides of whether this is a good thing or not.

How about we give the Prez the chance to do his job?

How about we see that it is better to do something than to do nothing?

How about we all do what WE can, our part, before we throw him out with the bathwater?

I'd rather be out in the garden and grow my own food-take care of my own.............. than whine about the powers that be.

No elected official is above scrutiny.  We have seperation of power, and allow public dissent for a reason.  Obama doesn't get a free pass.  If I disagree with his policies, I will damn well say so.  It's my right, and my responsibility as a citizen to do that.

Because doing nothing is sometimes the better option to doing something.  I'm not going to agree that spending money we don't have on things we don't need is a good idea.  When you have money problems, you don't run out and start spending more money.  You tighten your belt.  When a company loses money and creates a giant clusterfuck, you don't give the SOBs more money.

Like what?

Splendid, you should take care of your own affairs.  But you certainly don't lie back and allow government officials free reign.

NeedToUseYou -> RE: Good News Story! Two less homeless people! Thank you President Obama! (2/13/2009 8:19:38 AM)

You know I hated the pro-Bush blind, and their constant Bush spin, But I have to say the Obama worshipers are make the Bush lackeys look like amateurs. It's all good though, as the burn out will just come the quicker the more people idolize him now, especially in threads like this to where he did nothing, at all and the faithful are still trying to give him credit.

So, far Obama has lifted restriction on family planning clinics in foreign countries allowing them to get funding even if they promote abortion(I'm against all this type of funding regardless, so bad). He's banned torture(good). He's continued the bush economic policies(bad).

Did I miss something. What's to worship.

I don't
. But I do believe in giving him a chance. Since he IS in office.

So, what are you doing about it besides kvetching here?

I am off to do something. I've had my say.

I take care of myself, which is all anyone can do.  What are you doing about it, besides believing Obama will fix it?  You're on here "kvetching" too, so spare me your self-righteous indignation. If you post something, you don't always get responses that agree with your point of view.

KatyLied -> RE: Good News Story! Two less homeless people! Thank you President Obama! (2/13/2009 8:57:41 AM)

Too bad all of the homeless people don't have access to media.  Seriously.  sheesh.

No worries, in fact I agree with you.

Common sense tells me that these sort of programs are band-aids at best.  They are not meant as a lifestyle, and that's how many people are using them.

Aah Lucy,

Thinkin: Bad Guess.

I gather that the Internet 'Truthiness Squad' caught and removed those scandalous bits.

We all know, don't we? ... that TPTB (It's a paranoid term, Google-able)
would NEBER choreograph some Presidential Town Hall meetin', now don't we?

I mean, jus' any ole homeless sort
would OF COURSE be more than welcomed to wander in to one,
and would even get to air his/her question/sob story, righties?

/disgusted sarcastic tone

"I, <insert president-elect's name>, do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of the President of the United States, and I will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States." -- Presidential Oath of Office

The Presidential Oath of Office has historically been taken as meaning the President's first and foremost sworn duty is the common defense of the United States of America, rejecting the President's idiology in favor of our (all Americans) safety.

Our present CIC botched that oath. Dumb or... well, most likely he's pure ignorant.

Hey, but it's WHO ya know, not any particular qualifications.

For Shrubby (deep good riddance!) it was his daddy.
For messiah O, rumor has it that Soros is his pimp daddy.

Seems to me San Diego has the homeless problem not Florida.  If symbolic gestures are being made, I wonder why it didn’t happen there?

calamitysandra -> RE: Good News Story! Two less homeless people! Thank you President Obama! (2/13/2009 1:29:23 PM)

Honestly, looking on from an interested, but but not strongly involved point, all this "GObama" looks as ridiculous at this point, as the many spurious Obama bashing threads do, and the "OMG, you can not bash Bush, that is unamerican!!!" did.

Yes, what happens now is important, I understand that, but commenting on Obamas every burp? That only makes your side look bad, especially if the poster has not done his/her homework before posting.
Both sides in this ugly little campaign have been guilty of doing this ad nauseam in the last days.
