I'm thinking only a few month ago Obama was being hailed as the new Messiah here. What happened?

I've never felt he was a messiah... but I do think he's going to be a positive force for the US. Teh people who have been singing Hosannas for him most likely will continue to do so.

Just seems this board was filled with hope and expectations only a few month ago and now its all (virtually) doom and gloom about him.

snort exactly, RS... Miss... most Obama folks are not being so vocal because: (A)it's still early (B) there have been a few things that seem togo counter to his campaign promises and (C) we want to see how he handles things over the next year or so. of course,I could be wrong.

good lord almighty! give the man a frickin' chance! he never said things will be fixed immediately after he was sworn in, sheeeeeeeeeesh - if you're looking for the messiah, try chuch. Obama's only human ...not a demigod.

I agree with GT and Sambamanslilgirl.... He has been in office less than two months and I don't expect to see any significant "changes" until six months, and even then, they might not be the great changes people are hoping for... First, he has to fix a long list of things that Bush had left for him to deal with.... I don't see him as the Great Hero...yet..... (but I admit I have my own hopes) But, being the first Minority President, people have held him on a higher pedestal than past Presidents... So that when he makes a mistake that normally would be acceptable; people bring him down (look at all those Obama bashing threads in Off Topic) Give it oh....eight months before you see those same Obama bashers recant statements (or make new ones in praise) That is, off course, that he does his job as promised.... But politics is not my strong suit so....this will probably be the last time I post something of that nature...

Yeah, I used to think that a lot of people must really hate George W. and were here to vent their frustrations and take potshots at him ad nauseum. Now I realize that people just want to bash whatever president is in office ad nauseum. Doesn't matter which one, just bash whoever's there. Apparently it's orgasmic for some. [8\|]

He's only been in office two minutes and already hes been pulled to bits. It was just a slight dig at those who were all 'hail obama' and now are 'boo obama'.

my knickers aren't in a bunch, dearie. i'm sick and tired of people bitchin' that Obama's not making miracles fast enough now that he's in office ...and i'm hearing this mostly from the Black community. everyone was celebrating his election win and triumphing during his inauguration but now he's president, majority are expecting bigger handouts (ie public aid/food stamps). they presume they have it made since there's a Black (to the Black community he's not bi-racial) man sitting in the White House. you should have those hanging around the liquor store near my apartment - oh yeah, we have a brother in the White House and HE's going to fix everything those whites (not the exact words) messed up. problem is they somehow missed the message during the election night. he said "we have to make sacrifices ...we have to work together..." if you listen to many of his speeches before, during and after - he's always using a plural possessive noun (we, our, us,) never single possessive noun (i, my) - that's what i like about him - we as a nation will have to work together if we want change. and he's correct - it's not going to happen overnight.

Besides, Obama has specifically said that he's not the Messiah. He said he was sent here from the planet Krypton by his father, Jor-el. That's why I voted for him.
