Just wanted to canvas opinion on a subject that has become a fascination for me, cell popping, and yes, i have had it tried on me!

Which heating method do people favour, bearing in mind that the only two workable methods seem to be spirit burner or adapted pyrographic pen.

To be honest i prefer the pen method, the needle being kept at a constant temperature seems more efficient and effective, but i have seen expert exponents of the art who stick firmly with the spirit burner for heating up various instruments over a session.

Any input would be gratefully received.

Cell popping information.

uh oh, I thought it was bashing people chatting on cells at the table in white linen restaurants.

sorry[:o]

domiguy -> RE: Cell popping. (2/13/2009 3:54:27 PM)

it looks kind of gross and rather rudimentary.

MistressAinCT -> RE: Cell popping. (2/13/2009 4:20:29 PM)

I do cautery branding so I can't imagine this is much different, except the way the pen is held and the fact that cell popping seems to be done in a "dot" like pattern.  Maybe a cautery pen would be a good idea, but the end isn't a needle, its a tip.

www.bmezine.com might have some pictures, and also information on cell popping.

looks pretty juvenile for the most part, reminds me of bad jailhouse tattoos.

I think I'll stick with popping bubblewrap.[:D]

pinkwind -> RE: Cell popping. (2/13/2009 7:37:12 PM)

From the website that i posted in my OP i would agree that it looks rather clumsy, but in actuality it works very well, and there are other fet sites where members have posted some rather incredible images of the popping they have done.

Like i said, i was looking for input about heating the needle, and thank you MistressAinCT for your input, i have been looking at such pens with an eye to the future.

As with anything which breaks skin, from etchings with a scalpel to brandings and all things in between there is both the basic and crude, and the wonderful, and most of the time it is down to practice and artistry. And yes, i know this kind of thing is not to everyone's taste.

everhope -> RE: Cell popping. (2/13/2009 9:30:29 PM)

This example seems rather intricate and not too crude.

Pinkwind,
Thanks so much for bringing this subject up as it has been on my mind recently.
I would like to do this to my slave. He has been asking me to mark him this way and is a pain-slut.
I would like to connect with some other dommes rt who are doing this with aesthetically pleasing  results.

everhope,
Thanks for that link. It looks beautiful to me. [;)]

This is strictly a matter of personal opinion, but the way the skin looks on the pics when it's just been "popped" looks to me like tons of tiny pimples...it just kind of icks me out....I mean I'm very into tattoos, and I have a great deal of respect for various forms of body modification, but in this case YKINMK.

Leaving aside the heating issue, which was my primary reason for posting about cell popping, i was wondering what folk thought about the pain inflicted by such a method of skin marking.

Personally i love the way that the individual sensations, akin to bee stinging with a kick and a wonderfully warm afterglow, start to run together, melding into one intense feeling of warmth and sensitivity. i zone out after a while, it sends me into a place i love, call it subspace or what you will.

Couple those pleasurable feelings with having to stay perfectly still while the pattern takes shape, and having the undivided attention focused between the work and my reactions, watching the rapt concentration on Andy's face as he works away, it all adds up to a hell of a scene. For all that i am immobile, such a session can take an awful lot out of me, but the effects last quite a while, as the sensations last for days.

Given that this is a relatively short lived kind of marking, it can be redone over time to make it more or less permanent, and could prove less fussy all around to achieve a long term mark than branding by hot iron or violet wand. Just wondered what folk thought about that aspect too.

monywildcat -> RE: Cell popping. (2/15/2009 5:15:26 PM)

Looking at those pictures, I had the urge to want to pop the "cells" that have been popped.  Like pimples.  Then again, I like to peel sunburns too.  [:D]  I think I would enjoy the sensations, but not the finished product.  I wouldn't be able to stop picking at it.

pinkwind -> RE: Cell popping. (2/15/2009 6:22:25 PM)

You have no idea how hard it is to stop having a go at the scabs! If i accidentally(!) scratch some off i have to take the rest off and get the antiseptic wipes out.

Mmm, peeling sunburn...

People are quite peculiar!

SailingBum -> RE: Cell popping. (2/15/2009 10:40:24 PM)

uh not in this lifetime.  But you go ahead on.

It's always a nice feeling when one finds a particular pain/pleasure sensation that just REALLY does it for ya :)

RealSub58 -> RE: Cell popping. (2/16/2009 9:31:22 AM)

Is this just for  pain/pleasure cause it's not permanent? I'll take another tattoo thank you

pinkwind -> RE: Cell popping. (2/16/2009 12:45:32 PM)

That's part of popping's charm, that it can be as temporary or as permanent as you like, just takes going over before the marking fades, and over time it tends not to fade away at all. More pain/pleasure for your buck?

Maxwell67 -> RE: Cell popping. (2/16/2009 1:06:34 PM)

*FR*
This does look very interesting, and might be worth learning to do.  I may have a stab at it (pun intended) in the near future, after doing some more research and getting ahold of the right tools for the job.  I have not seen her online as much lately (probably because I have not been online as much lately) but this looks like CallaFirestormBW's area of expertise and she may be able to give you the kind of discussion you are looking for.  If not, then I am sure she will be interested in learning more about it, just as I am.

The concept of temporary marking of a lover is very common, from scratches and hickeys and bite marks to those lovely half-moon nail marks discussed in the Kama Sutra.  This method seems to have the bonus of being really intricate and involved and requires the use of tools, which only makes it that much sexier to a tool-using technophile such as myself.  I really like the idea that it can be done over and over.. like a sort of mantra for body modification aficianados. [;)]

Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

Andalusite -> RE: Cell popping. (2/16/2009 1:06:36 PM)

I hadn't heard of cell popping before! I find the idea of temporary, intricate marks that actually cause pain rather intriguing, kind of like Henna for masochists. [;)]

DominaSmartass -> RE: Cell popping. (2/16/2009 10:09:26 PM)

I like it in theory...I could see myself being interested in doing it. But for heaven's sake, could we call it something other than cell popping? That just sounds gross AND is not an accurate description anyway unless you're doing it on a microscopic level.
