Hi guys, as some of you know I am going over to America for three weeks at the end of April and want to get some ideas of places to go.  I have a few things/places that are definite but everything else is flexible. 

Coughs..... um I was maybe kinda sorta hoping that I could get to meet one or two of you but was a little paranoid that no one would want to meet me so I have hesitated about posting ha ha.

I arrive on the 24th I think and leave on the 12th May (or something like that), flying in and out of LA.

I will be going from there to Pittsburgh to see my friend who came and stayed with me in November (I love that people we meet from forums can become best friends in an instant [:)] ) and she is going to take us on a trip for a week and has given me some ideas.  She is vanilla but knows I am .... errrr .... not [:D]

We have to be in Buffalo on the 25th to see a band but other places that she said we could go to include Toronto, Niagara Falls, Montreal, Boston and New York.

Rain and Hib - you both are somewhere around  Niagara or Toronto I think?

Our plan is to travel around for a week and end up in NYC and then I will travel further on my own.  Now Florida definitely is on my wish list of places to see and at some stage I need to get to Columbus in MS (whatever that is.....Missouri or Mississippi I think) and this friend said she could take me to some places near there, maybe New Orleans and Atlanta were two she mentioned.

Lushy you said I should add Chicago to my list... it is one of my possibles as I haven't been there before.

I have traveled through the west coast so am hoping this time to see places I haven't been to before.

Also are there particular websites that you guys use to book internal flights?  Airlines that are better/worse than others?  Any other travel tips for the internal stuff.

Hey Im about 5 hours from Pittsburgh (very close in USA-ese)... maybe we could have a lil thing there or in between?   Id have to get permission of course, but it could happen.  And Pittsburgh is a great town.

Let me put in a bid!!!

C'mon over to Denver and I'll take you to the Pikes Peak Cog Railway.  I can throw in other things such as tours of small mountain towns, the Cave of the Winds, Seven Falls, the Manitou Cliff Dwellings, a working silver mine in Idaho Springs, and the local comedy circuit.

Arequipa and Cuzco are great places to visit, but I guess that your trip to america won't include south-america...will it [8|][8|][8|]

so from the other areas of america I have as little knowledge as you do (well, probably even less then you) but I wish you the best time of your life [:D][:)][:D][:)][:D]

I'm in Florida..about an hour south of Tampa.  We're ranked the country's third beach after Caladesi in Clearwater (not too far from Tampa) and Hanalei Beach in Kauai.  If you're a beach person.... that's all I'm going to say....

We're the capital, after all, along with being a lovely city with lots of free things to do.

Nope, am sadly not there....have been there 15 years ago (gosh...am getting old [&o]) but yes, also had the best time of my life over there....

If you're in that area, Niagara Falls is a MUST SEE!  If you're going from there to NYC, then you can take I-95 south (preferably not at rush hour times, or you'll be doing a lot of sitting still) and travel down through Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington DC, and eventually end up in Florida. 

I don't mean to be the wet blanket, but this is a HUGE country and you're talking days of driving or a lot of money flying to see all the places you might want to see!  I mean, it will take you several days to drive from LA to Chicago or Pittsburgh alone.  Chicago to Buffalo is 2 more days, and a full day from Buffalo to NYC.  If you have the resources, go for it, I think it sounds like an awesome trip!  But just wanted you to be aware....

If you hit Florida, let us know! We are in the Fort Lauderdale area (Southeast), but have been known to take a road trip (lol!).
