I tend to follow one or two subforums. I am not checking CM everyday for anything in particular. So its always been a casual thing for me. I come and go as I please so it stays fairly fresh.

Yeah, it gets rather predictable.  But that is life.  How many people do you choose to really hang out with?  The rest are not your cup o' tea or vice versa.  This is the same only a touch worse....Lots more damaged folks floating around out here.  They moderate caddiness but they haven't quite got a handle on moderating sheer stupidity.  Anymore, you just have to smile and acknowledge their life force with a smile and act in a manner as if it has worth.  You would never do such a thing in the real world.

I have met some cool  and interesting peeps off of this thang.  I try to limit all expectations. I always imagine when I am going to initially meet a woman that she will be a cross between Lizzie Borden and Leona Helmsley.  That way when she asks, "What do you think?"...I won't have to lie.  I can honestly state, "You don't appear to be half of the maniacal twat that I had imagined."  She always seems to be pleased. And on it goes.

Yo, yo, yo, faux negrooooe...you seem to have lost your own edge and your mojo has turned to moblo. You are booorrring us, homes. I mean, you've become zombiedomi, mang. I suspected that 11 had you "fixed" before resurrecting your boney ass.

And, to top it off...outta your own mouf, you claim to prefer that ( new yawk, aackkk ) thin crud crust pizza to
The Real Thang, i.e., Chicago Ambrosia, deep dish pie. What next ? You gonna desert the Cubbies and become a Sox fan just because they won a world series this century ?

Get yo shit tight, bro !

It seems like if you aren't part of the major clique here, have a different opinion than everyone else, or you have different kinks, no one really acknowledges your opinions or input.  It's like an adult internet version of high school.

How to Excel in Asshattery 101 (CM style)

1 - know your cliques ...study them well and observe how they post/respond ...always follow their example

2 - always have the same uniform opinions as the clique (having differing opinions not allowed)

3 - always remain friends of those within the clique

4 - never acknowledge any poster who isn't part of the clique

deviate from any and/or all of the rules - and your clique membership will be revoked.

FullCircle -> RE: Does anyone else get bored with Collarme forum posts after about a year? (2/14/2009 5:31:59 PM)

Humm cliques, everyone has one. Even the anti clique cliques.

You could call any collective of people such a thing, people congregate. Some stand as individuals, some stand as individuals together with other individuals standing as individuals. People not as individual as they'd like to think; if there was a human that could breathe under water with gills in their neck then I'd take my hat off to them, if I had one, and say "Now that is an individual."

I still love this place (this is my second account, due to some changes in my life), but I feel the same way.

When I first arrived here there were often topics I felt compelled to contribute to and threads that I felt engaged and interested in, but I haven't felt that way in a long time. I'm not sure if it's me that changed to the forums, but often it feels like the same old questions get asked and rehashed as if no one uses the search function. Outside of occasional post to ask for help myself, I find myself to be more of a lurker as time goes on and I find fewer and fewer topics that I feel I can actually contribute to.

In the end I think I will continue to hang around, and just check up now and then to post when there is that rare gem that's actually interesting (i.e. ABC new saying something GOOD about kink)

That's my 2 cents

For me, CM is nothing more than a message board; a place I can 'talk' to others, exchange ideas, and when the mood hits...piss everyone off.

Yes the threads are often repetitive; but I have yet to feel the wings of boredom swiping at me.

I find the people here on the boards absolutly fascinating...the small looks into their lives, the little quirks of personality that show through typed/written words...absolutly fascinating.

feydeplume -> RE: Does anyone else get bored with Collarme forum posts after about a year? (2/14/2009 6:07:04 PM)

I feel you pain. I used to mod. For 5 years I went through post after post, petty poutfest after freak out, flame war after flame war. We ended up banning ranges of IPs  for days at a time, deleting people's accounts and blocking them for months while they tried to get back on just to start new trollfests.

And then there were the regulars....

Are you in some way trying to insinuate something here?

I'm with Irish, its vicarious delight in the comfort of My dining room--its escapism from the circus at work-- and every once in awhile I learn something, but I am never bored and I am always entertained.

Aileen1968 -> RE: Does anyone else get bored with Collarme forum posts after about a year? (2/14/2009 6:43:36 PM)

I've been hanging out here for almost four years. I find that the boards go through lulls. I think we're in the winter blahs at the moment. The appeal of the boards for me is getting to know the online personalities here. There is an endless fascination with how differently people think and how utterly bizarre some people are. It's like virtual people watching. Plus, my involvement here directly led to my current relationship. He watched my posts for quite a while and was attracted to me because of them and I began to notice him because of his posts.

oceanwynds -> RE: Does anyone else get bored with Collarme forum posts after about a year? (2/14/2009 6:52:33 PM)

i never was much into cliques so never worried about it. I just post because i like to hear myself:). and also it is my way of clearing things in my mind. I do like the majority of people here, and if they get on me, i am thankful. Usually their points have validity. If they tell me i cant spell tonight that is okay. i am exhausted from work.

i think life is what u put into it.

Pardon me, I think I've lost my guinea pig.

Could someone please help me find him.

I think he went into this cheap Motel room over here.

Look in the lost and found Chia. You can sign to your guinea pig and it might come to you.

Huntertn -> RE: Does anyone else get bored with Collarme forum posts after about a year? (2/14/2009 7:20:45 PM)

I think we each have our own cycles...within your own lives...sometimes this site fits..and other times it doesn't...its not the sites fault really..its just not the right cycle for us at that time..Huntertn

The joint does seem to have lost a lot of variety in about the last month or so. Probably just the nature of the beast and its cycles, as someone mentioned.

Two other things could be happening: it could be a case of 'you get out of it what you put into it'.

But then if you do that (read a lot, post some) after a while you could start to reach a saturation point where you start to feel like, "jiminy crickets, I've been sitting at the computer way too much lately..."

I got yer guinea pig right here baby!

Sorrry, really. you bring out the oddest comments in me.

I don't even know what guinea pigs eat so i don't even know what to offer as bait to help find the little furball.

As several others have said, I pick and choose what topics I am going to read.  I enjoy the banter and like to give/get advice periodically.  Certainly there are similar questions that come up over and over, but that is to be expected when new folks come in.  Come here when you want to, take a break when you're bored.  That's what makes sense to me.
