Sir Walter Raleigh was a very famous one durring Elizabeth I's time. He hassled the Spainish... and stole a lot of money and things from them. ( he has my resepct from that alone!) I live in Florida... land of pirates... ~ We even took in a new one recently to our shores. The islands of Sanibel ~ so named after Queen Isabella and Captiva ~ named thusly because that is where the captives were kept were Gaspar's hide outs. ~ Now it is just lousey with tourists and damn snow birds. Florida has severial pirate festivals from the Keys on up. Now the Somali bastards..... those are modern pirates... God has a sense of humor when they drowned with their 5 mil. if you ask me. Gwyn, Who used to sing baudy pirate shantys with her friend Frost who has a Pirate household in the SCA.

Props to Jack "Calico" Rackham for taking in both Anne Bonny and Mary Read :) I was part of the first Pirate household of the Kingdom of Artemesia in the SCA :)

mmmm...I love pirates.... But only the noble, hot, swashbuckling ones....so...maybe buccaneers or privateers instead...... I would have made a hot pirate wench...or damsel. Damn my imagination...needs a shower now

I am still holding on to two of my epees just for practice with the honey at home. We camp out year round... and our light weapons are seriously kick ass and prolific. At most events there is no being cold or freezing your ass off... ( ok well Gulf Wars.. but that is a war damn it.) We do 3 day weekends. None of this meet in a school gym crap. in the SCA a household is a group of people that camp and hang out together, sometimes they fight together as a group, sometimes they call themselves a company if they get big enough ((Blackwing Company etc)) In my case the household was about 25 pirates that had 2 crews ((one crew fought rapier while the other was heavy))
