By Edwin Starr. Can someone tell me what the wind (brass) instrument is that plays in the right channel ? I can tell it's brass, and I know it's not a trumpet unless there is a hell of alot I don't know about trumpets.

My speakers are good enough, but I don't know how to tell, I mean it sounds like some round kind of thing, but for one, to know what it is I don't know, I mean even if you tell me I wil have to hit google or something to get an image of it. It's been a long time since band.

So who else is really as fucking tired of politics and economics as I am ?

On a side note, Bishop Richard Willianson has been fully reinstated. Basically un-excommunicated.

Just a side note mind you.

I always thought those round things were called drums. But then, it's been quite a while since I had a band class too, so I could be wrong.

Sorry. I just can't resist stupid jokes. In all seriousness, I don't know the answer. I'm trying to remember what it sounds like, but i just can't recall every nuance in the song right now. I'm sure someone here will know. Good luck!

No clue Termy and I dug quite a bit trying to figure it out. On the album cover back (War & Peace) all it lists are the arrangers, so that's no help. I would assume that the band was the same folks used by the Temptations since it was 1970 and from what I read the song was just a bit too controversial to be released by them under their name. Whitfield offered it to Starr and the rest is history as they say. Listening to it, I'm not so sure it isn't a (or more than one) Trumpet, but that's just a guess and my ears probably aren't what they used to be. I did find the guitar tabs for it however, so if you want to re-release it, I'm ready..lmao.

 T: a musical correction--

Brass is brass: trumpets, trombones, tubas

Wind: is clarinets, flutes, piccolos, oboes, basoons.

<from a wind instrument player--flute and piccolo>

Note: Its a bari sax ( or baritone sax) which is a wind instrument

edited to correct spelling from nails too long and sticking in the keyboard

Sounds like French Horn to me - which is brass, and distantly related to the trumpet, coronet, and tuba - but only distantly.

I'm with gimp and cat....after giving it a listen, it sounds like a sax to me too (short of doing any actual data mining for the answer)
