ToServeIsToLive -> Electro question (1/17/2006 9:39:20 PM)

So i was looking at extremerestraints electro sex power units and this one caught my eye just because of how weird it was http://www.extremerestraints.com/stat/fp900.html . After looking into that one i found similar ones all a lot cheaper than at extremerestaints and i'm not left wondering if there's any significant downside to these over the more expensive units?

i'm thinking of getting something like http://www.1hpi.com/cgi-bin/hazel.cgi?action=serve&item=/hpp9/hp-5-33.htm , which erosboutique actually sells for 2x that as an electro sex device http://www.erosboutique.org/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=erosbout&Product_Code=TX4Box&Category_Code=electro_Stimulation (they call it something different but the enlarged picture reveals they are the same thing... fishy...). Eros also sells the extremerestraints one i linked with a different name and a 75% markup...

NickInSLC -> RE: Electro question (1/18/2006 1:05:13 AM)

Wow!!! That's damned cheap. Most decent 2 channel units cost at least that much. I have a cheapo 2 channel TENS, and it doesn't put out much juice. After several minutes, I can become almost completely desensitized to it. A professional quality TENS will never get boring.

If I were looking at that unit, my biggest concern would be if it doesn't put out enough power. It might also be difficult to get service if it breaks. If you can satisfy yourself that neither of those issues will be a problem, I say jump on it.

search fp900 on the web and find it even cheeper!
its a popular accu puncture thing...

DarkSideOfThMoon -> RE: Electro question (3/21/2006 12:08:46 PM)

Not sure what my Dom uses on me, but is something similar, a box with outputs on it. Can be all gentle and tingly and nice and then like really  painful intense pins and needles... Electrics are great though :) Make sure it goes high!

Did you order one yet? I'd like to know how well it worked. I'm wanting one myself as soon as they are back in stock..//

I just got this one... I put the bands around My leg...Holy fu*k...That thing has some juice,compared to the small one I have.I think I'll be having fun...not sure the 'worms' will see the humor in it...LOL

I use a 'Clinical' 8 channel machine that can really put out the power.[:)]
I managed to get two of them for less than the normal cost for one.
LOTS of fun (for me [:D].) Will do 'russian' as well as TENS and EMS.

The original question was about a muscle ttimulator (EMS) which is different from a tens. TENS sends superficial current, the EMS goes deeper to the muscle. The following web site does a fairly good job explaining it.

http://www.vitalityweb.com/backstore/Muscle-Stimulator.htm

Electronic Muscle Stimulation, Neuromuscular Stimulation Therapy, EMS: This type of stimulation is characterized by a low volt stimulation targeted to stimulate motor nerves to cause a muscle contraction. Contraction/relaxation of muscles has been found to effectively treat a variety of musculoskeletal and vascular conditions. EMS differs from TENS in that it is designed to stimulate muscle motor nerves, while TENS is designed to stimulate sensory nerve endings to help decrease pain.

The EMS most common uses: Prevent or retard disuse atrophy, strengthening programs, reeducate muscles, postop orthopedic surgery, joint replacement, gait training, shoulder subluxation and reduction of muscle spasms.

Russian Muscle Stimulation: Russian Muscle stimulation is similar to EMS in that it is designed to Stimulate motor nerves. However, it is set at a frequency of 2500 Hz which allows for deeper muscle penetration and a more complete/stronger contraction of the muscle fibers. Most common uses: Muscle Building, Muscle Rehabilitation, Scoliosis Treatment

TENS, Transcutaneous Electrical Neural Stimulation: This type of stimulation is characterized by biphasic current and selectable parameters such as pulse rate and pulse width. TENS stimulates sensory nerves to block pain signals, stimulate endorphin production to help normalize sympathetic function. TENS is generally used to treat medical conditions and thereby requres a doctor's prescription to order.    Common uses: Acute and chronic pain, back and cervical muscular and disc syndromes, RSD, arthritis, shoulder syndromes, neuropathies, and many other painful conditions.

Interferential Stimulation, IF: This type of stimulation is characterized by the crossing of two electrical medium, independent frequencies that work together to effectively stimulate large impulse fibers. These frequencies interfere with the transmission of pain messages at the spinal cord level. Because of the frequency, the Interferential wave meets low impedance when crossing the skin to enter the underlying tissue. This deep tissue penetration can be adjusted to stimulate parasympathetic nerve fibers for increased blood flow. Interferential Stimulation differs from TENS because it allows a deeper penetration of the tissue with more comfort (compliance) and increased circulation. Common uses: Pre and post-orthopedic surgery, joint injury syndrome, cumulative trauma disorders, increasing circulation and pain control of various origins.

Electro-Acupuncture This type of stimulation is characterized by applying stimulation to specific acupuncture or trigger points on the body in small electrical impulses (milliamp/microamp) through acupuncture needles or with electro-stim hand held cutaneous probes. The frequency of stimulation may vary from 1 to 1,000 Hz. Lower frequencies (1 to 20) are tonifying, whereas, the higher frequencies (i.e.. greater than 50) are more sedating in nature. Electro-Acupuncture stimulation differs from TENS because TENS uses a higher voltage cutaneous stimulation.

With any of the above, if your smart, you will  never use on someones chest during play.  It can result in death.

There is a good reason why these devices are not pass out like candy and many require a physican script. However, most people that sell then do not verify that you are qualified to purchase. They  (people who sell the devices) also bypass laws by selling them under different names such as "for massage" or "for acupuncture". That way they are not technically a "medical device". But don't let that fool you, you can seriously hurt yourself or someone else useing these puppies.

Also don't use:
•  If you have a heart pacemaker or a heart rhythm problem, or any heart history
•  If you are pregnant
•  If you have a urinary or vaginal infection, inflammation or discharge
•  If you have been diagnosed or treated for cervical cancer
•  If you have, or have had epilepsy

Other tid bits:
  • Do not stimulate over the eyes or carotid sinus nerves.
  • Do not apply undiagnosed pain syndromes until etiology is established,
  • Do not apply electrode placement that causes current to flow transcerebrally (through the head).
  • Electrode pads should NOT be placed at the front or side of the neck.
  • Units should NOT be used when driving or operating machinery.
  • Know that electrode burn under electrode pads can happen.
  • Never put an electrode under compromised skin.

PetTeacher -> RE: Electro question (8/6/2006 2:57:17 PM)

Oh one more thing. If you have the gel pads, keep them in a air tight bag so they do not dry out. You can take a moist rag and wet the bottom of the gel pads to rehydrate it. If the pads are not hydrated enough, you will get a poor connection. Many pads are resusable if you take care of them.

Sadly, i ended up not being in a position to purchase it : (

It's kind of surprising a post i made 7 months ago being at the top of the forums when i randomly decide to look at them again.

PetTeacher thanks for the fairly detailed info on various muscle stimulation.

Well, I'm probably going to give it a try. I just can't believe the price on this web site

http://www.coastalmedicalsupplies.com/specials.html

I'm wanting to look around and see if there are any reviews on this style of unit for electro play..//

shellybrat2001 -> RE: Electro question (12/9/2007 7:16:34 PM)

In electric play using the TENS, and fisting, can I wear one electrode and my partner wear the other electrode?  Will my partner get shocked in this scenario or will I be the only one feeling the shock?  Also, if this works, what is the best placement for the electrodes on me?  on my partner?  Are there any articles or "how to" manuals out there that I can reference?  So many questions, can someone help me please?  Thank-you!!

Termyn8or -> RE: Electro question (12/10/2007 2:20:45 AM)

shelly, I have thought of that many times.

The problem here is that you will touch, like hands. I was thinking of like belt electrodes, they would provide such a good contact point you would not feel them because it is spread out. The current would be felt in the genitals.

However, with just the belt electrode, if you touch hands the current is going through the torso, which is a big nono. I only can figure a couple of solutions to this. One would be to limit the current, but that is a shitty idea because somebody will turn it up. There is only one other way.

You would need a waist electrode and a neck electrode, they would be hooked together. This will for the most part prevent current from passing where you don't want it. Not completely, but it is the best solution I can think of. It should minimize the current through the torso while you actually feel it where you want to.

Still a bit on the dangerous side, but alot better than just takig the unit and sticking one on you and one on your partner. And this is only for people in good health of course.

But it is a thought, enhance by electricity, it could work. It's just that there are problems implementing it. It would take great pains to make it 100% safe. But then what is ?
