From today, anyone taking a photograph of a police officer could be deemed to have committed a criminal offence.
That is because of a new law - Section 76 of the Counter Terrorism Act - which has come into force.

Gone will be the days of video or pictures of police brutality or to ensure peaceful protest documentation.

would you stop these laws before they come here?

You need to start identifying where these thing syou're complaining about are happening. In this case the gross mischaracterization is of a UK law.

We are  test beds to see what they can get away with before exporting it to the other in my opinion. If they roll over in the UK, then we'll probably see similar stupidity over here in a decade.

Just my jaded opinion.

That is the UK, they are considering it here. I assumed since the news link was BBC it would be obvious, sorry.

Using  of the (example) Montana Code - 45-7-302.  Obstructing peace officer or other public servant:

paragraph  2) "It is no defense to a prosecution under this section that the peace officer was acting in an illegal manner, provided that the peace officer was acting under the peace officer's official authority. "

examples in the US:

Man jailed in photo incident awarded $8,000
An amateur photographer who was taken into custody last year after shooting pictures of two Seattle police officers making an arrest http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2004003761_photographer09m.html

other, State of NH:
http://it.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=06/06/29/188221

100s more examples would only fill too much space.

Less than 10 more than likely.
