"ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Talk of a New York tax increase just got a little, er, hotter.

It turns out that New York Gov. David Paterson's proposal on downloads of music and software would also apply to downloading pornography, an element unnoticed in the public debate so far.

The state Division of Budget confirmed to The Associated Press that the tax would apply to skin flicks, whether they are downloaded online or purchased through pay-per-view on television."

Patterson seems intent on proving to the world what a moron he is. He intends to cut aid to: hospitals, schools, police, fire departments, health care/ insurance, and a real puzzler....... he intends to disband the statewide Youth Bureaus which have been instrumental in providing mental health care, sports and rec programs, music programs and safe/ clean 'hang out' spaces, homework clubs and gay/lesbian youth safe havens, as well as youth courts < all proven preventive measures>
The people have to start shouting out...... we all know there is far too much management in every business - including schools and government...... those are the jobs that need to be cut. The further away from the actual 'product' - the less a manager has to do with the product. Save money that way AND - curb the political perks...... travel, insurance ( should be the same as the average worker - not the BEST available ) - PAY !!! Won't happen unless we get an angry mob.

Hmmm.....if they legalize pot some guys can still make a buck smuggling dildo's and good porn into New York...Do ya pay tax when you rent from Netflix, or is this a budding opportunity for that company?

I cannot say since my DVD rentals are from a local owner of a small shop rather than Netflix.

I don't see how they would endorce it.

Ohio wants you to tattle on yourself and admit to ANY online purchase, list it on your state income tax return and remit Ohio sales tax on it. I don't know anyone who would comply, even when boxes are shipped to their front door. So how the heck are they going to enforce this ?
