What does subspace feel like for some of you? I know it varies from person to person, but I'm new to this, and would like to have an idea of what I may end up experiencing. Thank you in advance...

I don't go into subspace because I'm not a submissive. I go to *okIgiveupspace*. It's blue and I like it.

I get totally relaxed and very disinclined to move or talk to anyone. If my Sir wants me to respond i can - i just don't want to.
Pain doesn't hurt - he can cane me and i feel the strokes as pleasurable. However, he can bring me out of subspace by using something that i don't like - like a single tail or a paddle.  These things will get me yelping again.

Usually i can stay there for about half an hour or so.

littleone35 -> RE: Subspace (2/18/2009 3:30:26 PM)

For me subspace is like floating on a cloud.  It is all good there feels like nothing bad can ever happen while i am there.total bliss.  That is the only way i can explain it.

it has been this slave's experience that "subspace" is an altered state of consciousness, comparable to a trance state, like one achieved through meditation.

some define subspace as that trance state achieved ONLY through some sort of BDSM means.  this slave has achieved that same trance
 state, sans BDSM, frequently through other means over her 35 years before discovering WIITWD. all that changed was the focal point(cognitive object) and the sexual energy experienced.

excerpt from an interesting read:

quote:

"So what is my theoretical paradigm for trance? Basically I claim that the necessary and sufficient condition for a trance to occur is whenever there is a sustained cognitive object loop of sufficient length of time to cause dissociation. A cognitive object is an abstract way to denote a thought, any thought, whether it is a word, an idea, a feeling, a vision. When a set of cognitive objects repeat often enough, you will go into a trance."

subspace, like taking an aspirin, does not affect everyone the same way.  some folks are highly allergic/negatively affected by it.

Yep, in fact, I learned to get to ‘subspace’ by applying what I knew about meditation.

To the OP:  for me, it’s like floating in warm water.  I am buoyant and cushioned.

StrongSpirit -> RE: Subspace (2/18/2009 4:20:21 PM)

I consider subspace to be allowing the other half of your brain to come out and take control of your body for a while.  Similar situation to when you are driving somewhere you know well, and lost in thought BOOM you realize that you are there.  You haven't lost time, you have full memory of your own internal thoughts, but not of the actions of driving.

lovingpet -> RE: Subspace (2/18/2009 4:26:07 PM)

So far, it has been a soft, fluffy, warm place where I not only had no worries, but really had no real grasp on reality or time.  I was far away and, as far as I could perceive, safe.  I was completely in the hands of another at those times and it was right.  I would concur that it is similar to a trance like state and is definitely an altered plane of consciousness.  I process things there without ever realizing I am.  It is not painful, scary, or sad.  It is just resolved when I come back to myself.  I can't explain how or by what steps it occurred.

Hope this helped!

Adrenaline, endorphins running wild.... whoooaaaa!!!  No pain, everything is beautiful, yessss, the floating...voices, noises so far away.  Though sometimes after I have returned to earth,  I feel tired, and a little sad....must have used up my endorphins and they need time to replenish.

KokuRan -> RE: Subspace (2/18/2009 4:54:05 PM)

Having done meditation and some mind altering drugs, certain times subspace seems to me a mix of them.

The floating/high feeling, waves of feel good/well being. Clear minded and uncluttered thinking. A sense of serenity, a hyper connectivity/energy flow with other human beings.

Course that's only some times depending on what's done.

Other times subspace for me is a complete release of negative emotions.

Do you think in colours too? I just wondered, because for some reason I do. Days of the week have colours, feelings have colours, places are colours, words and music have colours. For instance my bedroom is *pink* but there's not a pink item IN it but I still think *pink*. I've never paid much attention to it until M asked me what colour Monday was and I immediately said *purple*. I have a colour for each day of the week but had never actually thought conciously about it until then.

So, blue, yes........it happens to be my favourite colour so perhaps it's no surprise that that is the colour of being totally relaxed and drifting off at his hands.

graceadieu -> RE: Subspace (2/19/2009 12:29:01 PM)

For me.... I get all out of it and incoherant and happy.  I stop thinking (probably the only time I do, lol) and everything goes away but my submission and desire to please and joy at pleasing.  It's almost impossible for me to safeword or say no.

greeneyedreamer -> RE: Subspace (2/19/2009 3:31:59 PM)

It is brought on to me by master's extreme relaxation and aroused techniques. I can think, and I suppose I could talk if absolutely necessary, but I usually think things and nothing comes out. It's like being inside of your head and feeling weightless and blissful. The first time it happened, I couldn't talk afterward for almost 30 min. I whimpered a bit and a few WOW's came out.. I love being there... grins. Daddy knows it too...

devotedinSD -> RE: Subspace (2/19/2009 6:51:17 PM)

I think an altered state of mind describes it nicely...but it doesn't always feel serene to me, which I don't mind.

marysdream -> RE: Subspace (2/24/2009 7:03:24 PM)

mmmm have only experienced it a couple of times..it is absolutely wonderful! like the best high you have ever experienced lol but no drugs....takes an extremely, talented D!

Caillin -> RE: Subspace (2/24/2009 8:45:47 PM)

For me, I get giggly. A little like having one too many glasses of wine. And things don't hurt (with exceptions). Thankfully my Dom finds it funny that I can't stop giggling while he beats me.

After I'm tired, and generally a little clingy. And cold. Food, water, blanket, chocolate, and cuddling are good aftercare for me.

IrishMist -> RE: Subspace (2/25/2009 4:48:55 AM)

I don't do subspace.

OttersSwim -> RE: Subspace (2/25/2009 6:02:25 AM)

For me, it starts with the bubble descending around myself and my Lady...that isolation bubble where it is just you and your Dominant...nothing else matters...nothing else interferes...complete loss of time sense...

I usually start with a floaty feeling and can end up feeling like I am flying if we go far enough.  If I am bound, the pressure or even pain of the bindings can completely go away.  I become almost non-verbal.  Take me far enough and my ability to safeword goes away too, which means that my Lady is extra observant.

After, I have had a variety of come down sensations.  Restless muscles that jump...cannot keep still...little hyperventalating catches in breath...falling almost instantly asleep...

angelinamaddox -> RE: Subspace (2/25/2009 2:09:42 PM)

Subspace feels like a lot of people discribed to me, clouds in my head, cant feel pain even though you can feel an object making contact with you, the calmest and happiest feeling you can get. It is wonderful, and can be achieved either physically(whipped, fucked, etc), or through meditation. Either way, it is wonderful to feel, and I have found can last for a whole day or longer, just depends on how good the Dom/me is at keeping you there.
