Leonidas,
Have You noticed that since You mentioned it the number of guests have gone down? Maybe it is just me but it seems it has.

It's definately not a good thing when I can't tell if I'm a lurker or not. The functions here take a bit of getting used to. If I am, it isn't at all intentional and definately will correct the problem if someone would be willing to walk me through it.

Respectfully,

morgan

It's also quite possible that those "guests" are actually search engine crawlers, I logged into my board one day and almost had a fit at the number listed as "guests" then I got all excited.... till I looked in my admin panel and identified the googlebot These bots can crawl dozens of pages simultaneously and each page they crawl will register as a "user" thus giving a false impression. AOL users also tend to show up as mare than one person, but I haven't a clue why unless it's something to do with the Aohell proxy servers.

That would be in the stats but not in the direct guest references. Wonder how long most people actually lurk around before bothering to post.

Through my own research, only 5-6% of list/group/forum members will post at any one time.

(I was horribly sick with something for a week, and bored out of my brain, so I ran some statistics on some lists I was on)

Then Collarme is doing better than the average because a quick glance at posts vs number of hits give an average of about 1 post for every 10 hits or 10%

or maybe we are just more 'vocal' about things

just my tuppence

You ever click on the 27 users and 4 guest link? It tells you where everyone is and what they are doing. Kind of neet.

probably considered a lurker cuz it takes me a long time to get through one thread before i decide "ok i dont know what they are talking about" and then dont post anything cuz it would sound like i didn't know what i was talking about.....like right now lol

haha...it's never stopped anyone else here before so why should it stop you. Feel free to post whatever/whenever you want just be prepared for someone to comment back with some equally confusing reply.
