If it ended tommorow I don't know what I would do with the brand. Chances are I'd cherish it as a mark of a significant portion of my life and of my first owner (I've certainly dated other dominants but he is my first master/owner). I guess if I really wanted it gone there are certainly over the counter things that can help with burn marks. If I were really desperate I'd just go to a plastic surgeon. But I can't see that happening. Chances are if I were owned by someone else, there would be some process of me reclaiming that mark and perhaps with tattos or something else, morphing it into a body mod that meant something personal to me. Who knows. My view is that we get scars physically and emotionally all of the time, why not have one to signify the person I love and who holds my heart and submission. Life is to short to not do it. I would maybe consider a tattoo, though I would want something artsy and symbolic and not a name, initials, etc. Neither is something I would do casually though. I would not allow a permanent marking as a punishment.

I would not get a tattoo for someone I had just met. If we broke up, I would still have the tat as a symbol of something important that I shared with another human.

I could sit and explain to you why I enjoy carving, permanent marks, humiliation, degradation, and etc, but something tells me that even if I did, you would not completely get it. Most people don't, if they don't like it on some level. It's fine that you don't have any desire for humiliation or permanent markings, but keep in mind that it is quite common among submissives and slaves and bottoms to find these activities appealing, enjoyable, and highly arousing. Likewise, some people find terminology like "slut, whore, bitch," and the similar to be affectionate. I didn't understand this when I first began my journey into BDSM, but I could not live without these things now. Understand this, if nothing more: People are into some crazy stuff. Humiliation is just the tip of the iceberg. You may hear about scat play or rape play, race roleplay or uniformed secret police, interrogations, TPE, messy play, fire play, and a whole host of other things. BDSM is an umbrella term to cover ALL of that and much much more. You may never understand the reasoning or desire behind it, but it's a bit rude, in my opinion, to knock it with no understanding of it whatsoever. Perhaps you are naive. Don't let that hinder you. Explore your world :)

Were you not interested in all the other stories and opinions that demonstrate that many people find this acceptable and even enjoyable? The people on this board do not have sufficient knowledge to say that what this dominant did was inappropriate. It could very well be that the types of punishment were negotiated and that marking her for punishment was acceptable in their relationship. There is too little information to form an educated opinion. I would love to have my Lord carve anything in my body, including the word whore. It is a rush and getting the swords was the most euphoric experience of my life. If it's something you WANT and CAN'T imagion being without good for you, then clearly you are more submissive then the switch me, I am glad that you found something that's for you but then again it doesn't have to be something I would like... PERHAPS after years of submission with the same person I would concider it. I have my hard limits but then again things can change in the years?

I don't know that you can ever be 100% sure you will not regret something that you do. Things change, life goes on. Someday, you may look back on this part of your life and think "Damn, what the heck was I thinking?" These things happen. That's why we have divorces, diets, and laser tattoo removal. ;) But if you live life to the fullest extent you desire (within reason, of course), then at least you'll get the most out of it. After all, you only have one life.

True... Maybe I am oldfashioned? Ohh well... :) I at least know that I love my tattoos because they are a reminder of whome I care about in my life and should care about... myself, my friends and those that are not among us anymore. Fneah, now I am starting to go outside of the subject :/

Respectfully Eir, I think that the thing you are not getting here is that for some, all of the sentiments that you attach to your markings, others can still attach to theirs....even if they are markings that you would not wish to have or would find to be personally degrading. It's really just a matter of personal choice.

Life happens. Things change. Rushing into a permanent body mark isn't a good idea, but if you love someone and want to express that love in a permanent way, it may not matter to you that that love could go south some day. Hopefully, if you're taking the time to leave a lasting impression on your body, you are less concerned about the possibility of having it after a relationship ends.
