sunshinemiss -> The Magnificent Seven (2/21/2009 8:33:21 AM)

We are watching the Magnificent Seven - the one with Yul Brynner and Steve McQueen and Charles Bronson.

All Manly Men....

Who would YOU cast nowadays for a remake?

My personal 7 are:

Antonio Banderas
Ed Harris
Nicolas Cage
Will Smith
Olivier Martinez
Russell Crowe
Javier Bardem (yeah, I know... but did you see The Dancer Upstairs?)

What about you all?

Aylee -> RE: The Magnificent Seven (2/21/2009 8:38:12 AM)

If you like Antonio Banderas, you HAVE to rent and watch, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown (Spanish:  Mujeres al borde de un ataque de nervios).

Yes, it is subtitled, but you also get to see him nekkid!

sunshinemiss -> RE: The Magnificent Seven (2/21/2009 8:42:02 AM)

He's swoony!

sirsholly -> RE: The Magnificent Seven (2/21/2009 8:57:54 AM)

Oded Fehr
Brendan Fraser
Antonio Banderas
Xavier Bardem
Christian Bale (As long as he keeps his temper)
John Kleese (sp?) Just for fun!!

I agree with Angus MacFayden and Oded Fehr.. .yum....

I love a man with an accent.
I'm a slut that way.
hmmmm, Maybe that's why I love Yul Brynner... that and how he fills out his jeans... sigh.

Argh!  I missed it!

windchymes -> RE: The Magnificent Seven (2/21/2009 10:29:31 AM)

I'd have to have..

Tom Hanks
Billy Bob Thornton
Russell Crowe
Bill Paxton
Mark Harmon
James Spader
Steve Buschemi, for comic relief

It wouldn't be a hormone-fest, but it would sure be entertaining!

Aynne88 -> RE: The Magnificent Seven (2/21/2009 10:36:11 AM)

Clive Owen
Al Pacino
Robert Deniro
Javier Bardem
George Clooney
Armand Assante
Gordon Ramsey *cuz somebody has to cook and scream [;)]

I agree with Sunshine, Javier was even hot to me as the evil guy in "No Country for Old Men."

Sigh.  Girls.   You are tampering with the greatest movie ever made, and sadly, you all fail.  Mark Harmon?  MARK FUCKING HARMON?  Which of the Magnificent Seven does he play?  Dopey or Sneezy?  And Bill Paxton?  The man can't act his way out of a paper bag.  Please.  Stop breaking my heart.

I could wax rhapsodic about this movie.  I could lecture each of you on the foolishness of inserting your petty little vaginal quivers into the greatest casting ever done.  Who does Antonio Banderas play, pray tell?  The crazy young boy?  MAYBE 30 years ago...maybe.   Daniel Craig?  Oh come on...that misshapen lumpy wanna be?  take away his clever dialog and he's NOTHING.  Thank god not one of you said "ooooh.  George Clooney!"  Make me cry.

"What line of work are you fellows in?"   "We deal in lead, sir."   Yah, tell me Christian Bale can deliver THAT line?

The Magnificent Seven ARE:  Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, Robert Vaughn, James Coburn, Brad Dexter and Horst Buchholz.

Stop tampering with the fabric of the universe.  NOW.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: The Magnificent Seven (2/21/2009 9:57:54 PM)

HEY!  We are DREAMING here, bub!  And in my dream, all them cowboys is NEKKID.

(having a hard time picturing Bill Paxton, too)

PanthersMom -> RE: The Magnificent Seven (2/21/2009 10:01:34 PM)

pffft!  it's our drool thread, let us be.  go recast the sound of music with your favorite pinup or some such nonsense!  we're having fun and not hurting anybody.  yet.

Emperor1956 -> RE: The Magnificent Seven (2/21/2009 10:08:02 PM)

FR:  LadyHibiscus, Panther'sMom, and all.  Dream on.  But don't tamper with perfection.  I really shouldn't do this, because I KNOW this will have serious side effects and most of you will be unable to go to work Monday, but I'm doing this only to prove my point.  Find your purported "Magnificient Seven" replacement, and compare.

I think we're done here.
*grin*
