city dwellers tend to have a lot more wood than they think ---Paper --- which they usually throw away and which has a lot of uses

if there was any kind a major lasting social break down the biggest problem would come in the form of crime from those that do not have, so survival is not going to depend on much you have stored  but  how to protect whatever you do have. 

because if someone it hungry enough  and has nothing even one can of beans could be worth taking your life,   so they can survive a few more days, with hopes of finding more found before survival time runs out. 

And if you are in a  city  violence is going to be high.

Anyone who has taken the 401 through Woodstock in a snow squall would know that town is the place to hide...it is like the Bermuda Triangle when a storm hits LOL.
