Lockit -> Cum speak (2/22/2009 11:53:15 AM)

I guess this is a bit of a pet peeve for me and I was wondering what other's might think of it.

When you get an email or see a thread where the person uses cum rather than come, in a sentence that isn't talking about sex, what do you think?

When writing my little stories.. I will use the word cum and in talking to a submissive that I have some relationship with... I will use cum... but I am talking about someone you most likely do not know using cum rather than come in a non sexual situation.

What do you think of the sex jive-talk in general?

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Cum speak (2/22/2009 11:56:13 AM)

Makes me bonkers.  But then, I say MEH all the time, so I guess I am not one to judge.  [8D]

Lockit -> RE: Cum speak (2/22/2009 11:59:18 AM)

LOL  Meh isn't sexual and if it is... the poor man! hehe

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Cum speak (2/22/2009 12:00:54 PM)

(just poking at darling Peon!)

I actually NEVER use "cum",  it just rubs me the wrong way somehow, as invented spellings often do.  ("domme" tops the list of course)

CatdeMedici -> RE: Cum speak (2/22/2009 12:07:07 PM)

Its annoying as hell, I think some people do it trying to be cutsie---I think its ignorant ( of course I did a post yesterday that I did not spell check, so I'm sure I looked like a dube). I hate all the shorthand writing, I think its an excuse not to learn to write or spell correctly.

Quite frankly I'd like to know how we even got from ejaculation or orgasm to cum-I'll be darned if I can find any medical explanation.

Lockit -> RE: Cum speak (2/22/2009 12:09:48 PM)

ROFL... I am sooooooo screwed on my own thread!  I invent words all the time... I misuse them all the time... I like fun word play... but... but... I have used domme a lot until I saw that many found it offensive, now just once in a while... mostly for effect in a sentence.  A lot of people where I used to hang out used it when I was new to online and I thought it okay.  Words don't mean a lot to me in offensive ways... but some do.  Cum is one of them becasue it seems to come from a place I am not interested in.  Or the word sub/subbie... I never had a problem with it as I didn't see it as a bad thing... until I saw people using it in a degrading way.  Live and learn I guess... which is partly why I made this post.

How many use it... that don't realize that the cute lil sex talk is a turn off?  (If more than a few are turned off by it! lol)

YoursMistress -> RE: Cum speak (2/22/2009 12:14:46 PM)

Miss Lockit,

I am totally against any use of the word "cum", and prefer come in all uses.  Please don't take this as me being against the release of my own orgasm.  That is at least negotiable for me.

yours

Lockit -> RE: Cum speak (2/22/2009 12:17:20 PM)

LOL YoursMistress... I won't do that!  Or... I wouldn't unless I was teasing!

OneMoreWaste -> RE: Cum speak (2/22/2009 12:36:01 PM)

I've never liked the word "cum", it always makes me think of very poorly written erotica, or the kindy of on-line "nasty sex talk" that's delivered in ALL CAPS [:'(]
When it's as a sexual innuendo (i.e., "Why don't you cum on over here, big boy"), it absolutely turns my stomach.

In writing stories of my own, the most difficult part has always been figuring out which words/euphemisms to use for intimate acts/parts. I hate being crass, but there's only so much territory between "cunt" and "quivering loins" [:-]

Here is a thread along that line, OneMoreWaste

Lockit -> RE: Cum speak (2/22/2009 12:42:57 PM)

I think in a story or even in playing with someone, they or we often want crude and that is different in my mind.  It is the normal conversation where someone use's cum and such talk that bother's me.  Then because I do use it in other situations, I could be a hypocrite... but it just turns me off to be here and see how many use cum and seemingly treat d/s as nothing more than grade school funny haha sex.

GreedyTop -> RE: Cum speak (2/22/2009 1:15:43 PM)

add me to the list of annoyed by it...

thishereboi -> RE: Cum speak (2/22/2009 1:51:45 PM)

I know it probibly isn't fair, but when I see that, my immediate thought is wanker.

PeonForHer -> RE: Cum speak (2/22/2009 1:59:24 PM)

MEH

Please, please stop that, Lady Hib.  When I see that word, it still makes me think of the noise made by a small furry animal when you yank its tail.  Or a very aggressive squirrel.  I don't want to think of you this way.

Emperor1956 -> RE: Cum speak (2/22/2009 2:22:13 PM)

FR:  I really don't understand all the excitement.  The word in question is an ordinary Latin participle which has made its way into English, in several fairly common expressions.  viz:

Jenna Jamison graduated cum laude.  (note:  that is pronounced "law-dey", not "loud-ey")

His thesis on the sexual implications of volcanic eruptions will surely result in his graduating magna cum laude.

In any group of active, healthy people pursuing various noisy pleasures, some of them will graduate summa cum laude.

Next you'll be wondering about the use of the terms cummerbund and cumquat (which I admit, always has a tittillating sense about it...indeed, so does "tittillating".)

Anyway, I have to go.  My family has a tradition every Sunday.  When we can,  we meet and engage in mutual mastication, usually to completion.  I'm especially eager to go this evening as my daughter, a known thesbian, is going to put on a show.

Emperor, I can honestly say that that was possibly the most wholesome thing I've read on this forum, while at the same time written in such a way that you managed to make it sound about the most disgusting thing I've ever read.  Seriously - that takes real skill in double entendres.  I take my hat off to you.  If you're not making money with that talent, you should be.

Actually, Emperor, I fear I must call you a diphthong.  Please see the following link for the correct pronunciation of "au" - it *is* pronounced "ow," not "aw."  And I'm sure that when you climax, you always cum with the ablative.

SassyFINAM -> RE: Cum speak (2/22/2009 3:08:43 PM)

;) I also graduated with magna cum laude...never occured to me to compare these two.
I always think of gum when someone used cum here...don't know why. It may be my ESL background - who knows?

LdyyR -> RE: Cum speak (2/22/2009 3:27:12 PM)

I wasn't even going to comment, but just seeing the word each and every time I clicked on the ,Ask a Mistress, section, causes me to [sm=Groaner.gif].

I agree with thishereboi, I usually think wanker when I see come spelled the other way. That spelling of come, well It's just so cheesy and screams please don't take anything I have to say seriously; I know you are going to proceed to press the hide or block button. Unless of course you like inapropriate grown men like myself.

Cumm on now! ......LOL....I just had to do that

If a guy cannot write a formal sentence without a sexual innuendo one might guess his flag has been standing at attenion too long and ruining his concentration.
