I watched the President this evening give his speech, then begin to leave, a few people he shook hands with,  a few he was in a bear hug--do you ever wonder if at that moment or maybe in the private quarters later that he's saying:

who the hell was that idiot that hugged me, or
what was up with that move or
OMG xxx hugged me and had the worst BO or
can someone tell me who the fool was tha I hugged? was he one of us or one of them?

I always thought it was much more interesting when Bush walked around the White House grounds, holding hands with his Saudi Master....

Actually, Mars, that's a cultural thing. From the New York Times, no less:  http://www.nytimes.com/2005/05/01/weekinreview/01basics.html

To the OP:
Yeah...being forgetful is part of my contract...I'm a college professor!  I get that all the time from returning graduates...."Yeah!  Hi!   Wow...you've changed....."   But still, nice to see ya again.

However, signing autographs?  That one caused me and my wife to look at each other and go "WTF?"

~FR~

I tend to hug more people than I shake hands with...

usually my thoughts or talks after are along the lines of:

He had such *great* force.
Ugh! She rubbed!
Mmmm, pats too, I love those.
Yay! Nuzzles!

etc.

Of course, I'm usually the bear on the 'bear' end of the bear hug.

I only like hugging people that already have a friendship with me in general.  Being a short busty female has it's downfalls.  You get belt buckles in your boobs and your nose stuck into armpits.

Myself, I usually like to hug and hold the genitals of any female I meet.

It's just kind of a cultural thing for me, having been raised a pervert.

I am glad you brought up this topic.

What I noticed is one woman (dunno who she was) rubbed his back up and down all motherly for a good 6-8 seconds.

That would be something a woman would do at a family dinner, not quite appropriate if you ask me for doing as he is progressing down the aisle of Congress for a speech.

I have seen his wife do the same thing at other arenas they attend but hey, she is his wife.

Huggs...as i like to say with two G's because of the emphasis i place on them.I think they are very important and i would be lying if i said they are only important at certain times.I love huggs and accept them as well as a deep need to give them as often as possible. As for the president..i wonder if anyone dares call him a tree hugger seeing he is from the left??Now i can't name most of our boys in Washington...but there are some that are so downright homely..there must be something also wrong like BO and halitosis and oh well..pick an affliction that is self-imposed.

I don't think he thinks like that, because he seems genuinely open, and friendly.

I on the other hand, grew up around not terribly friendly (IMO), and slightly paranoid Northeasterners, so huging takes me aback a bit.    I only hug people I know really well, family, or good friends I haven't seen in a while.   My memory with names is also terrible, so your words would be, and have been used by moi frequently.    M
