Should this site be configured in such a way that "hijacking" becomes impossible?
Should thread AUTHORS (the OP) have the ability to block persons from posting in their threads? If not, why not?

Do people really enjoy talking to themselves and only viewing opinions they agree with? It would not be good for a balanced thread they would all end up one sided with no voice of descent.

Hey.  We're all adults here.  When I start up a thread, I do so for the purpose of learning from those who post in response.  Blocking others whose views differ from mine indicates that I don't really want to learn.

The mods already can remove posts from those who violate the TOS.

Nope. We have moderators for a reason. Leave things the way they are.

NO, that would be overkill censorship. A lot of times the sideline "hijack", whether intentional or not, becomes an interesting and in many cases informative part of the thread.

Actually, any one can block the ability to see specific posters.  I am sure the mods would love to do this, for a fee, but then this is a FREE site, so it is what it is--and well if I don't want to hear others negative opinions to My posts, I hit the off button.

if you don't like the replies posted on your thread, i have some simple solutions for you: 1) create and moderate your own forum or 2) simply click "hide" on the certain respondees you dislike.

lastly beware of Mod XI - enough said

I see your profile was created today; but are you sure you weren't here before, under another name, perhaps  ?

I've read several of your threads. They've all been complaints about how CM operates.  Many people have suggested changes to this site but since it's free, members' suggestions are taken with a grain of salt.

If you dislike this site so much, why are you still here?

If that happened, said "blocked" persons would be very common in a brief period and I, for one, agree with ScooterTrash, (but not about everything, so at least we could start our own thread and have a healthy discussion there, having blocked everyone that does not agree with both of us or divert our boring ramblings towards more healthy sordid matter) mass debate is healthy and fun.

Oh I can just see that working....NOT
I dont think there is  a public version of any forum that allows that by individual authors... you can assign mods but it would be utter chaos and fall apart very quickly
good luck making one or finding one

Such a shame isn't it. They were very comedic and gave us a great laugh. Perhjaps we should ask the Mods to reinstate them so we can continue the giggle.

Yeah, but then you could exercise your 2nd Amendment right to blow a hole in your monitor!

You have no right to freedom of speech here; the first amendment doesn't apply.

That's not fair ... some of us never had the first amendment right to not have apply, mind you, on the other hand, isn't being ammended kind of similar (ish) to being moderated in certain contexts ... and no one want's to get moderated , do they? so maybe I will accept the situation for what it is, having ones ammendment ignored ( )sounds like something that would not suit me, so not having one to ignore in the first place will spare me some disappointment !

The amendment would be a moderation to the Constitution.  You don't get the benefit of THAT either.

I am pleased to know that my constitution will not be affected because I like my constitution just the way it is, I have no wish to fall ill or suffer impaired "body functions"
