I've talked with her in the past, she had some great information. It's because of her that we're going through an immigration attorney rather than trying this on our own. I give him all the info and he files everything, deals with CIC and takes care of things. The only thing is his cost but I prefer to see it as an investment and acceptable cost. [:)]

To go back home to germany is pointless once I have my degree from here, as the job I am studying is the lowest paid graduate job in germany and I would end up earning less then I did in my previous qualification from germany if I would find work in that graduate job due to paying off my student debts. Therefore for me it is clear that I will relocate...either on my own after my studies, or to a Master. With my studies I fit the skilled worker rules for australia and for new zealand, for Canada I don't know. But as I won't stay for anyone in UK for me is no point to date here and therefore I certainly would happily leave everything behind (well, except my cats) and start fresh all over again. I think to do it or not has a lot to do with the fact if you have much to loose where you are already. Now, I made the step to leave my country and my friends behind already years ago and to leave a country which isn't your home country anyway, is not very difficult (at least not for me)...therefore I do know that I will relocate in the upcoming years...one way or another [:)] At the moment Canada is not the question for me as for now my next curiousity will lead me to new zealand instead [:D]

Im sorry Rain hon:) wasnt my intention to skeer you( I like to be up close and personal to skeer people:) snicker ....mine was bogged down from the beginning, lots of issues for reasons most wont have, .There have been quite a few changes processing wise since I came here, for the better so Im told. It certainly made me sit up and realise that immmigration is not to be taken lightly tho:) I wish anyone going thru with immigration , anywhere, good luck. Lucy

FastReply... I was killing time in the office lobby and saw this one-pager in Newsweek about Canada... the guy who wrote it said that a person with skills could get a Skilled Worker permit and be a legal permanent resident of Canada. He made it sound EASY! I snorted big time.

Less if you have a company already willing to hire and sponsor you.

He was referring to Joe or Jane Professional, not someone being sponsored. Shoot, I have a master's in education, another in accounting, and I am a CPA. That makes me... like thousands of CANADIANS! I could get myself an EU work permit too, but that doesn't mean I would get a JOB. Nice idea, though!! I have friends all over Canada, the change of local would be fun.

Teachers, nurses, doctors, most medical fields, nuclear physicists (no, I am not kidding about that one!) some types of engineers but not all engineers, professions like that. My customer service experience is not even wanted. There's too many people here already in C/S. [8\|] The CIC site has a list somewhere, LH, I'll see if I can dig it up somewhere. They call it "Fast Tracking".

There are quite a few finance jobs posted in my area right now but really, there are probably 50 qualified applicants for every posting. I have freinds that are teachers having trouble finding work in the areas they want. If you are willing to live in the middle of nowhere you have a way better chance of getting a job. I know when I moved farther north I had my pick of accouting jobs, because the skill set up there was less. When i was living in a southern large center, I had no trouble finding work but I had to look harder to find it.

I moved to Austin knowing only my partners. Away from friends, family, scene recognition, job. I wouldn't go to Canada cuz it's too frickin cold and my partner is here, so I won't leave him. If we're talking about YOU Prin, well pretty much any choice you make that's high risk or quick is a bad idea. Give me proof that you've actually taken things carefully and slowly and used good judgement, then maybe I could consider recommending it.
