A scientist named Walter invented an incredible shrinking ray. He tried it on himself and it worked, reducing his height to just two inches, but unfortunately he couldn't reverse the process.
Walter had a loyal lab assistant who stayed with him so his work was largely unaffected, but over time he longed for some female companionship. The assistant came up with a plan to hire a prostitute, shrink her down to Walter’s size, and leave her like that until he could figure out how to reverse the process.
The assistant went to one of the seedier parts of town and, after much negotiation, got a woman to go back to the lab with him. When they got there the assistant aimed the machine at the woman and turned on the shrinking ray. There was a flash of light and a puff of smoke, but the hooker was the same size as before. At that moment, she saw Walter scurrying across the floor and, thinking that it was a mouse, stepped on him with her shoe, killing him instantly.
This was all because the lab assistant forgot what everyone already knows: you can lead a whore to Walter, but you can't make them shrink.
