I thought the same thing but didn't have the guts to say it... [image]http://www.collarchat.com/micons/m9.gif[/image]...Isn't it typical that when criticizing someone’s actions you duplicate them.

LaTigresse -> RE: Snarky posts (3/4/2009 8:20:38 AM)

I know sometimes I snark. I do it much less here than in real life. Snark is part of my humour and the people in my life love my humour. Unfortunately it doesn't translate well into pixels.

If I get Raid bombed, or too many other posters that I enjoy do, there are always other sites. This one isn't the "be all, end all".

Such is life.....

Coldwarrior57 -> RE: Snarky posts (3/4/2009 8:22:16 AM)

Some people have nothing better to do then to be negative.
If some ones post makes you mad or you dont like that person, dont read their postings, Its pretty simple.
If you think that a post is STUPID or retarded, again dont read them.
Life it too short for negativity .

Howdy, I've been looking around the message boards and I've begun to wonder something whenever i see a topic that gets alot of views or response really fast. it almost always( not every time but a lot of the time) to be becouse the post was a feeding ground for snarky comments. and it makes me wonder why that is. any opinions or thoughts?

People tend to be governed by their emotions more so than logic. This is primarily why some OPs elicit voluminous response while others don't... and also why you'll rarely, if ever, see a short "fat" thread or political thread.

When the snarks come out, you can safely bet that they are emotionally motivated, often backed with a yearning for superiority.

Now Shakti, many of our posters try to make a big splash.
I really mean it, and I am not trying to be "snarky".

Believe me, I'm the last one to criticize anyone else on this score. I have less leg to stand on than the Black Knight from "Monty Python and the Holy Grail".

There are some children who, when they see a really big puddle on a rainy day, have just GOT to jump into the middle of it with both feet. They cannot resist the opportunity to make a big splash that gets everyone but them wet. [;)]

*sigh*

But isn't that a good thing to let the inner child out and to jump in the puddles? I always splash myself when I jump in one. Nothing like a good mud puddle to splash in!

BlackPhx -> RE: Snarky posts (3/4/2009 10:02:12 AM)

LaTigresse -> RE: Snarky posts (3/4/2009 10:54:59 AM)

Ohhhhhhhhhhh, mud wrestling?!?!?!

YourhandMyAss -> RE: Snarky posts (3/4/2009 10:59:15 AM)

Well sometimes they're snarky because the questions are stupid, or pointless, or just basic poorly veiled attempts at trolling.

LOL I liked this statement so much I edited it to fit the character max on signature line and made it my forum signature.

There are people who simply can't help acting like children when someone posts something they don't agree with, or when someone they dislike posts in the forums.  Unfortunately, they tend to swarm like fruit flies and when one posts, the others generally are not far behind.  The days of the fruit fly here are numbered.

Says the king of negative threads in Off Topic. Seriously.[8|]

feydeplume -> RE: Snarky posts (3/4/2009 2:25:08 PM)

Sometimes it's just fun to be snarky (remembers a GREAT one-liner that got her MOD stomped) and it is a necessary or usual human reaction to something that hits a nerve, the instinct to lash back, to defend. In that sense, snarky is better than flat out b**chy, because it is more fun to read for others.

SavageFaerie -> RE: Snarky posts (3/4/2009 2:33:34 PM)

I work to keep snarky remarks at bay but I can think of a couple my hand refused to listen to my mind and hit send.

Generally I will type out my snarky reply reread it and hit cancel.....that usually feeds my snarkiness in a satisfactory way.

domiguy -> RE: Snarky posts (3/4/2009 2:35:58 PM)

"Snarkiness is close to Godliness."

When I was but a Domiboy my mother sat me on her knee and said, "Domli Dude, you are going to run into many a dumbass in your life. The test of a man is to learn to inslut the tards in a manner that they cannot be entirely confident that they have been insulted. Then, and only then, can  you be proud of your snarkiness."
