crb2 -> Being a Dom is beginning to worry me! (3/4/2009 5:01:53 PM)

Is it just me, but as I read the profiles there seems to be way to many subs/slaves that are looking for an owner/dom because theirs died suddenly?
Could it be that there is something about subs/slaves that are causing these sudden death? An adult BDSM related version of SIDS perhaps?
On the opposite side of this, what are the reasons for so many sub/slaves to become deaf or move to Afirica?

You gotta keep your sense of humor.

You do realize how potentially offensive this post could be to people who have experienced the death of a loved one in the lifestyle.

Black Widow submissives... now there is a storyline with potential.

MAMandSlave -> RE: Being a Dom is beginning to worry me! (3/4/2009 5:16:03 PM)

As someone who has experienced the death of my submissive of 7 years several years back, I know that my current slave checked me out, bye reviewing her obituary , to make sure that she died of natural causes. It is always prudent to check out those you are getting involved with, and all you really need is an address, phone number and full name.
As for whether this is offensive, It is something I have often wondered about as well, and I found the manner this was put forth to be very amusing.

Owner4SexSlave -> RE: Being a Dom is beginning to worry me! (3/4/2009 5:16:48 PM)

Take things at face value at first.  Because some of these submissives really have lost their Dom/mes to death, other ones are just making a play for pity/sympathy.  It's extremely hard to tell the difference, just take your time getting to know and what you are getting involved with.  Keep an open mind that has a realistic balance of optimtism yet cynical doubt.   Sooner or later the truth always comes out.

I am sorry for your loss. Grief never goes away completely and can come to us again at any time.

I am sorry for the losses that everyone on CM has had. All those moments of joy and love are precious and give us a light on those dark nights.

I am sorry for all the loses we will all experience. I have no wise or witty thing to say about our future grief, just that, when it happens, remember you are loved by those that are still with you and around you.

But i still think it would make a great storyline as a BDSM murder mystery.

I tend to pass over the profiles that tell a story about how the sub lost their master to death and they had to move back to some african country hoping to relocate back to the US soon for the right Master.   I'm 100% cynical about those profiles.

I once had a LD thing going with a submissive who told me she lost her last master in a Motor cycle accident.  I believed it, however damn it, It was such a good smooth selling story.

I actually spoke with a submissive who lost their master to cancer and it was for real and I was about 30% cynical for the longest time about it.

All in all, does it really matter how or why somebody lost somebody?  What is more important is the fact people are trying to find somebody in the here and now.  I tend to watch out for those people caught up in sharing never ending stories about somebody they lost.  Why? Because they are stuck in the past and not ready to move forward in life or a new relationship.

I don't realize that, no.  Everything is "potentially offensive" to someone - in the "lifestyle" or not.  It was obviously meant as a joke and one I find quite true.  The OP obviously meant no offense to people (in a "lifestyle" or not) who have suffered through the loss of a loved one via death.  Lightening up wouldn't hurt anyone a bit[:)]...................luci

I won't disagree with you.  I just seem to be a little more sensitive these past couple of days on the subject.

Understood.  I'm sorry if it's a subject that's hit home in your life recently..................luci

No, clip's ok.  It's the sending him to Afghanistan part that worries Me.

ETA..... Of course, if he became deaf and I sent him to Africa, it might have been funny for the thread.

People do die, but if someone makes up tragic stuff to get attention?  That is just wrong!

Heh!  Cue up the music from Psycho, as the audience watches the dom pull his car into the Bates Motel…. Little did he know that the submissive he was meeting that day had a chain saw hidden in the closet!  Run, dom, run!

Best to avoid submissives with usernames such as "Molly Hatchet" or "Lizzy Borden" :-)

feydeplume -> RE: Being a Dom is beginning to worry me! (3/4/2009 6:06:13 PM)

secret poisons on the handles of whips, poison inside the condoms...

How about a submissive as more of a succubi? or playing one D off another til they duel (i love costume pieces)

Having lost 2 of our beloved in less than six months, and even though it's been years since they died (one of an aneurysm, the other in an construction accident), I still have to remind myself that it's ok to 'get' the joke... it seems sacrilegious on my bad days. Fortunately for me, today wasn't one of them.

To offer up some theories to the OP with maybe a bit more realism than he wanted...

1. we're getting -old-. Most of the folks in our local groups are in their 40s - 60s. People that age die. Women pretty much outlive men by almost a decade.

2. Dominants tend to have a higher percentage of Type A personalities in their midst. Type A personalities are much more inclined to die due to cardiovascular disease than their age-mates.

3. Stress increases the risk of death from cardiovascular disease, autoimmune disease and cancer. Having responsibility for another human being in addition to oneself is a lot of stress.

paul12000 -> RE: Being a Dom is beginning to worry me! (3/4/2009 6:18:28 PM)

I have come across the same phenomenon. The other day, I was talking to someone who claimed she was in Africa, because of a contract with a Dom she was with over there. Here's the kicker. When we first started talking, her ex, as she referred to him as, was some business person, and her contract with him had ended, and he sent her away. Conversation was going fine, til she started begging me to open a bank account, (This is typical of those claimed to be in Nigeria), and she'd have some client who for some reason can't send money over there send money to me, then I'm to send it to her.. I asked, why can't your ex send you home, since he brought ya over? Her next line was, he had died.. I pointed this out to her, and that's where the conversation ended, cause I was puzzled did he send her away, or just died? The other was, if she was going to have sent me money in the first place, I'd take full control of it, help her out with it to get her butt to me, and then we'd go from there, cause if I'm gonna be her Master in the first place, that's the way it's gonna have to be.. She didn't like that much either. Definately gotta be careful with whom ya are talking with these days.

CatdeMedici -> RE: Being a Dom is beginning to worry me! (3/4/2009 6:50:03 PM)

I don't think they die-- I think it has become a new excuse to get attention--Master/Mistress died, " oh oh sad story, experience"---Dominants are expected to run by the masses-(however there ARE alot of us who are old).

-move to Africa??? Ok that's a new one--

subangi -> RE: Being a Dom is beginning to worry me! (3/4/2009 7:35:18 PM)

On the other spectrum are the Doms who are contacting subs saying their wife died and they are looking for a god fearing woman, or submissive.  They are in petroleum, engineers, and all have business in the UK and Africa.  I have received 5 basically professing the same thing.   They all needed my bank account number because of some emergency.
